I can't make it. For those going, I'd love to hear the App-State chant on t.v.

Re: NOLA Roll Call
We were there last year and had a blast. BUT we've got a stupid family wedding this year that we've committed to...although I'm still thinking about blowing it off and heading down and letting my family represent us...I was really hoping one of those other bowls would come through...the Super Dome is awesome though.

Re: NOLA Roll Call
I would love to go. Amtrak gets in at 7:30 Saturday night then leaves for a return trip at 7:00 the next morning. There would be no need for a hotel but I am a little nervous about being in the city from between 1 and 6 at night. Any suggestions?

We did this last year but with air. Flew in the day before left early after the game. We hung out a little then went to the airport. Maybe you could go to Amtrak station.

Re: NOLA Roll Call
I'm not sure I follow? What are you nervous about exactly? If you mean you're afraid you'll be bored with some hours to kill...it's really pretty easy to kill those hours in NOLA. Bourbon Street (assuming no bad weather) will still be hopping until 2 or 3 in the morning (and if we win you'll see Apps all over until those hours) and then you could walk down around Jackson Square or elsewhere around the FQ, or along the Riverfront to kill a little time. I love going for a walk around the Quarter once the craziness of the night has wore off a bit. Some great 24 food dives around as well. Then you could head over to Harrah's on the way to the Amtrak station and kill a little bit...hopping all night long, albeit at a slower pace. Next thing you know you're back over at Amtrak, not far from the dome, and on your train headed back northbound. New Orleans is a place where you don't have to look too hard to kill 6 or 7 hours, even in the middle of the night.
Re: NOLA Roll Call
Thanks for the input. I have been there before and I could easily kill many hours there but I was worried about the time line for security reasons. I will be by myself. The last time I was there we were approached by many homeless people looking for handouts and I didn't feel comfortable late at night there anywhere near the FQ. I forgot about the casino, that should be safe. Thanks for that idea.

Re: NOLA Roll Call
I’d actually be more worried about getting to the game on time, but I assume you’ve considered that.
Re: NOLA Roll Call
Provided the train is on time I will have 1 1/2 hour to get to the dome and buy my ticket. If the train is a little late then I should still be ok. If it is very late then maybe I will not get on it in Burmingham like I plan.

Opps…. I forgot about the time change. I was going by the Eastern Standard start time of 9:00. Better have my running shoes on. Hopefully I'll get to see most of it then. Thanks for the info.

Re: NOLA Roll Call
As long as you stay on the Canal side of the Quarter and then around the Casino area, you will be fine. Mostly young millenials attempting to make their way home or to an all hours eatery. I was out pretty late with my two little kids after the game last year and had no problems.Yosef77 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 1:26 pmThanks for the input. Yeah. Casino. You could play nickle slots for hours and not spend more than $20. Maybe even get lucky!Yosef77 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 1:26 pmThanks for the input. Re: NOLA Roll Call
yes its close. I can easily cut that down to 5 minutes. The biggest question is if the train will be on time and I can't do anything about that. Well even if I am a little late I'll still be there.
