It is. I think he was a RS JR so I’m assuming he’s going the grad transfer route. I think they liked the Sophomore who started when Newman was injured so i wonder if this just was the best move for all involved.

Yes. Anyone who says they want to stop playing FCS teams is really saying they either want to stop playing elite P5s or they want five home games per year.shortfatoldapp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 3:10 pmDon’t we play an fcs game each year in order to get another home game?

Is the sophomore you mentioned Sam Hartman? He doesn't scare me nearly as much as Newman did.

I posted this in another thread but Hartman is the one, and he's good, but not as explosive as Newman.

Definitely easier to take down than the 230lb. Newman. I like our chances.

Yeah i agree with you, would much rather see Hartman than Newman out there. Was pretty worried about Newman to Surratt. Seemed from Clawsons announcement that this was all driven by Newman, I’m surprised.

Explain how this works to require an fcs game to get a P5 and a 6th home game.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 1:49 pmYes. Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
To play P5s on the level of Wisconsin, Penn State, Clemson, etc., we have to do so as a buy game (that is, we get a big paycheck but no return game in Boone). Since that road game isn’t balanced out with a future home game against the same opponent, you either counterbalance it by paying someone for a single home game or you simply play more road games than home games.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 11:14 pmExplain how this works to require an fcs game to get a P5 and a 6th home game.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 1:49 pmYes. That is what I thought you were getting at but wanted to ask to make sure I was not misreading something.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 12:38 amTo play P5s on the level of Wisconsin, Penn State, Clemson, etc., we have to do so as a buy game (that is, we get a big paycheck but no return game in Boone). I will never attend a college game on a Friday night. Not judging anyone who does but it is just plain wrong for conferences to schedule these games. There are many places where that gate and concessions are very important to that high school program. It is also important to the players that their fans are there. It is all about greed.CoachRob wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 8:38 pmThis Sucks! For the sake of everything that is good and holy, please leave Friday nights alone for high school football ...
There will be a large number of fans who will have to choose between App and their home town high school team plus not to mention no way we’re able to showcase our brand to recruits. Many fans may not be able to make the trip with work and traffic at the end of the week. I just hate college football being moved to Friday nights, Of course I’m biased because I don’t have the ability to choose.

Wake opened this season with three straight Friday night games (2 at home, 1 at Rice). It must be their way of featuring their program.bcoach wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 12:29 pmI will never attend a college game on a Friday night. Re: App @ WF Friday Sept 11
We’ll see how it affects their relationships with high school coaches. I do however chuckle when a HS coach starts making decisions about freezing out a program, which only hurts the kid.
