First UAB TD?

At the game, they showed no replay of the first td catch. Didn’t look like a catch from where I was Sitting but not the closest view. Can find but one replay of the catch and appears the ball hit the ground loose then into his gut. Not complaining, just wondering why that wasn’t reviewed, I thought All tds were reviewed in that situation. And anyone watching the game, what did you think and what did the ESPN announcers think?

Announcers said it wasn’t a catch and were surprised it wasn’t reviewed

There was a camera angle that showed it got loose on the ground. UAB got the PAT off before it could be reviewed.

If it were Alabama vs Clemson it would have been.....but your correct.....that was not a catch.

All scoring plays are suppose to be reviewed. They probably took a quick look and the call on the field “stood”, meaning they couldn’t see enough to change the original call. As far as officiating goes it was a really sloppy game.

As the UAB, WR turned over onto his stomach he bobbled the ball and it hit the ground and bounced back into his hands. It was not a catch. I will say this, would have Roof pulled the safeties back into coverage after that who knows. If he did they would have maybe at best had a field goal. Don't understand why the first two drives ASU had the safeties in underneath and run support after that it was a blood bath. UAB got beat up worse than the score indicated...

I don't know where those refs were coming from but they were putting on an SEC auditioning clinic at the cost of both teams.

They even missed that facemask/pull off the helmet Fehr did near the end of the game and it happened right in front of a judge.

I'm thinking the no-call on Fehr was a "make-up call"....

Because all UAB has done for their past 6 games is ground and pound. Who knew that they could actually throw the ball? Even their fans were surprised.

If Fehr's face mask had been near UAB sideline, it would have definitely been called. Location should not matter, but after watching FB for 70 years, location, fans, and coaches do sometimes influence calls. It shouldn't but it does because officials are humans!!!

UAB to their credit knew they had one shot and did surprise us with the aerial attack. Other than those early moments ,offensively the only time we were stopped was when we did it ourselves.

They did that without Johnston. They were 6-1 with him at the helm and they threw the ball all over the yard. I'm not sure we should have been shocked that they did that. He averaged 252 yards thru the air in those first 7 games. His 298 yards on Saturday was only his third highest total on the season.

And let's not forget the clear pick play on their 2nd TD.

But they were bad on both sides the whole game.

Can someone explain how Evans was able to advance the fumble on a 4th down for a touchdown?

Also, the leaping penalty on UAB seemed a little weird.

With that said, that any mistakes made by the refs to our benefit were justified by the actions of that thug Marino.

Believe the fumble going backwards it is allowed to be advanced (can't be advanced on the forward fumble).

Some weird rule on leaping on where you start and where you can jump from.

You can't be lined up more than a yard from the line of scrimmage and leap. Replays showed the UAB player was lined up originally about 2-3 yards from the line of scrimmage.

Muffed snap, not a fumble.

The wikipedia page has the ref listed at MAC, though no idea if the entire crew was.

I think we should petition to have the score changed to 31-3 because we weren't really playing in the first 3 minutes.

The crew was MAC crew. I asked Molly Cotten who I sat next to on the flight back to Charlotte.
