Jordan Fehr

Unread post by Mjohn1988 » Thu Dec 26, 2019 12:22 pm

Anyone have any thoughts on why Jordan Fehr doesn’t seem to get much talk or fanfare ? The guy has huge stats, he’s an unbelievable athlete and he’s been very reliable. I just don’t see him mentioned as an NFL prospect or as going to any of the post season games.

I could see him as a UDFA or in the CFL. If that’s the route he wants to go.

Fehr has the IQ and intangibles, but his tangibles don't translate to the NFL game. He is a great kid though.

Fehr is going to the NFLPA Bowl. He won't get drafted but he will get a shot in the NFL.

I wonder about that too. If his pro day measurements match what was reported in the Athletic “Freaks” article, I’d think he would be a solid prospect.

Not trying to be argumentative but his “tangibles”, speed, size, vertical, etc all look great. That’s what makes me wonder why he doesn’t have the hype.

His pro day will big for him and of course the NFLPA. My guess his 40 is a mid 4.5 and I could see him make his way to being a special team guy and reserve LB.

He supposedly runs very well (4.4s) but I always figured he plays like a 4.65 guy, which is fast enough. He has enough hype where it counts. The NFL. Every NFL team has come through App and asked about him. He is in the NFLPA Bowl and I thought he played well enough to make a roster.

For players coming out of the G5 level, scouts are looking for big standout things. To echo what AppFan1 said, he will get his shot to show something and his Pro Day will be huuuge. I was just pointing out why he has not been getting the same amount of hype as ADG. I think he deserves it.

I’m not tying to start anything. As the season progressed and Fehr continued to perform it was just odd to me that he didn’t get talked about as an NFL prospect. Especially when you see his mesurables and here that he has a high football IQ. Not a big deal just though I might be missing something.

Most national media today just talk about the top 100 prospects and the College Football Playoff. They aren't doing their job and should cover everyone in the FBS. It is a shame but lucky for Jordan the people who matter know him well. Every NFL team is talking about him and he is in an all-star game. Jordan is mentioned by those who do their job correctly.

Right. To get a lot of hype at the G5 level, you have to have some really stand out statistics or explosive attributes. Fehr is solid and his intangibles really help his chances at the next level, but those aren't exactly the things that will generate a lot of commentary for him.

Gaither is going to get a lot of attention because of his speed. I expect him to do well in Mobile. Scouts think Gaither is about a 4.5 guy while they think Fehr runs 4.75 or so. I would imagine that if Fehr runs what he supposedly times for our staff he would generate heavy buzz at pro day.

During the Bowl game the color guy couldn’t stop talking about Fehr running a 4.4

That's what the staff says he times. It was also in that Feldman Freaks List. I always thought he played like a 4.75-4.80 but after this year I could see low 4.7 or high 4.6. 4.6 is not slow for a LB by any stretch. If he is able to run 4.4s for the NFL scouts then he will most definitely help himself. Very few LBs run under a 4.55.

Fehr’s stats are similar to ADG’s, he’s bigger, and his reported run/jump/lift numbers are fantastic. Obviously there are several posts here suggesting (some intentionally, some otherwise) that he’s undervalued because he’s white, but that’s silly and not even a stereotype that applies to linebackers.

To me the big question is whether his workout numbers are inflated, and if so to what extent. Obviously there’s no question about his productivity.

You are right. I'd be surprised if he runs a sub 4.5. He has some good lateral quickness, which would matter to me more, but I just don't see a sub 4.5. I am a fairly big guy and I used to run track and could pull a sub 4.3 at my best. I was no where near as heavy in the legs and feet as Fehr, which would make it tough for him to put up that kind of speed. It's the same problem I see with Henni, who has great hands, but heavy feet. Race has nothing to do with it. But I am rooting hard for both of them, they are outstanding kids.
