I can tell the ones underneath are not permanent and I’m sure the new ones will look good...my point is they are needed and not part of original design. I’m guessing some structural issue manifested itself already and the current supports were “emergency”.
I also believe the supports were not originally in the cards but between design and execution the need became evident. DG also noted that the decision to add the columns for support was based on the need to support the roof/canopy over the NEZ seating area and also to support the eventual connection of east and west stands...in whatever form that means.

That is correct. Their field is blue.

I've always been torn over the smurf turf at Boise. When it first came out I thought it was pretty sweet - different and unique. Then, after a while, it started to grow a bit dated to me. I got to where I actually found the game harder to watch on TV on the blue turf for some reason. 2 seasons ago I was out in Boise and had the chance to spend about 30 minutes just walking around the field on a Friday and then went to a game on Saturday and sort of fell back into "like it" status. It looked and felt great when walking on it and watching the game from the stands was no problem. Not sure what the disconnect is between watching in person and on TV. I'd love to take in a game at Eastern Washington or Central Arkansas and see if the same holds true...because both of those truly seem god-awful in every way.

Any color other that green is an affront to humanity.

I don’t mind Coastal’s as much, as it reminds me of the color of turf we had back in the 80s and early 90s.

I had somewhat the opposite progression in my feelings about the Boise turf. At first I hated it, but over time I grew to like it as I saw as unique to them and a signature part of their identity. Any of the new ones, I do not like; the key is that Boise was first, it was something original… Any new ones I see as copycat and therefore lame.

Back when my (double App Grad) wife was doing public accounting she visited Boise a few times. Apparently geese are often drawn to their field because it resembles a body of water from the air.

The red turf at Eastern Washington is almost nauseating (to me at least) when you try to watch a game there. I find it to be a huge distraction. I've never watched a game at Central Arkansas but field actually looks interesting (alternating maroon and gray). The colors aren't bright and that somehow seems less offensive. That said, I would never want a field in KBS other than GREEN. It just screems "gimmick" to me....like we'll do anything to get attention.

I’m sure our rug will always match our drapes...err, our turf will always match our roofs.

Could you have meant late 70s early 80s? I played then and agree it appeared almost as much blue as green ...

The old astro turf wasn't nearly as realistic as the current field turf and we used it way beyond the normal life expectancy. It was really faded by the time it finally got replaced. Pretty hard too if I remember, but if you played then you know that better than I.

I don’t go back quite that far. The first time I saw that rug was in 1986, or so.

Does anyone know what the finished supports under the seating in the new EZ facility will look like?

No one knows for sure. Only that the ones there now are temporary.
