The athletics facility is so damn tall our TV coverage always seems likes it's filmed from a blimp. It made KBS looks so much worse bc of the track and Owens Field House. Old KBS was a beauty in person and looked like shit on TV. It's going to look SOOOO nice from that angle now with all the changes, and the Knob will get plenty of screen time.

Side note: the loudest place in KBS used to be on top of Owens Field House. I remember shooting games from that roof 2009-11 and it sounded like the loudest P5 stadiums from up there. All that's going to bounce back into the field now that we're basically building a 5-story brick wall right on the endline. I really think people will be surprised with how much louder we're going to be. It will truly be one of the loudest stadiums in the country.
Agree with you 1000% about the camera angle at KBS. I thought it was an ESPN+ problem for a second but when the CCG looked the same on ESPN I figured it just had to be an issue with the camera well position. Are you saying that’s going to be changed or just with the new turf, removal of the track, and NEZ additional it’ll look better?

I do think that the absence of the track and the new end zone facility will change the optics a bit.

If 7-10 of you in section 204 are willing to give up your seats we can always install a new camera well.

I fear there will be plenty of sections to put cameras in this season

When is the concourse in the NEZ supposed to be connected to the stadium? This was one of the items I was hoping would be in phase 1. I didnt realize they were regarding the hill until I heard it from this board last season. I was stoked when I found out, I think that will be a big upgrade. That little path was pathetic and with no concourse from the NEZ it saw a lot of traffic.

Yeah that’s not what I was saying. The camera bays aren’t going anywhere. But the higher your vantage point the more of an eyesore the bright pink track becomes, and the top of dilapidated Owens looked even worse from above than from field level.

The NEZ facility and a trackless field will look phenomenal from the same filming positions that used to be so unflattering.

Thought I was agreeing with you, but OK.

Doing this from the phone so we’ll see if this works. Photos from today. The photos don’t do it justice ... the new dorms and NEZ really make things look “big league”. Also found some of the old turf and ... were these vending machines in the stadium last year? Am I blind or is this new ?

In the one photo you can see the permanent columns. I’m sure they’ll be wrapped in brick

Wish they would have regraded the hill back in the ‘60s. Coach M had us doing all kinds of agility drills up and down the hill when we had night practices at the stadium.

Interesting place for a vending machine. Never noticed it myself, but then again it's normal for me to not notice Pepsi products.

I seem to remember them being there last year but not active during games.

You are correct. Those machines were there last season but they shut them off on gamedays.

Wonder why. I’d put in a fleet of those things for game day. It would cut down on the lines at the concessions for those who just want a drink. I would’ve killed for a water at the Charlotte game, but I wasn’t about to stand in line.

And bonus points for having Pepsi!

They are cheaper than the walk-up concessions price on soda and I guess the logistics of changing the price for one day (gamedays) just isn't worth the hassle.
