Why do we continue to let App State bloodline to go to others(army), instead of coming home? Money should be a second thought. Army, really? should be the ASU DC!!!!!!

I’m a fan of Nate, but everything wasn’t golden when he was here.Woodstovegang wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:54 pmWhy do we continue to let App State bloodline to go to others(army), instead of coming home? Money should be a second thought. Army, really? should be the ASU DC!!!!!!

Re: Nate Woody
I've seen about 10 posters over the last 6 months claiming that Nate wasn't well liked or isn't welcome back but nobody knows why or can give specific reasons. Sounds like a lot of hearsay until examples are given.

Re: Nate Woody
App State is becoming the cradle of coaching. I love it. Gives us a ton of options down the road if necessary because there will be tons of “App guys” with tons of experience.
Also makes App an exceptionally appealing place to land for up and coming OC’s/DC’s and position coaches.

Re: Nate Woody
Can you elaborate on this coaching cradle comment? I actually see this as the complete opposite. This fan base/maybe even the admin is so strung out on hiring strictly App Guys when truth is I’m not sure there’s that much coaching talent out there that is an App alumni to fill out the best staff possible.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:09 pmApp State is becoming the cradle of coaching. 1. I accept that we will always be a stepping stone. We might find the occasional guy like Clark that loves App but time will tell. If he’s wildly successful like we hope, just like with Satt someone will come knocking with a bag full of money. I accept that reality and I’m okay with it, college football is a business.
2. If we are going to be a stepping stone, that means we are probably good year in and out, and it means guys that are positional coaches and coordinators will get poached to other schools, like Satt taking guys to Louisville, Drink taking some guys to Mizzou, Elliot at Ga State, Lamb at Gardner Webb, and guys like Woody now at Army.
3. This gives us a great pool of coaches that are App guys/know our culture, and they are getting great experience.
4. They won’t all come back and we probably won’t need them all, but it’s wildly beneficial to have a tree of experienced coaches at different stages that we can look at, if necessary.
5. It also means App State is a great place for talented coaches to come to. If you’re an up and coming coordinator or positional coach that has a couple schools at your door including App, wouldn’t you go to the place where there’s not only a track record of success on the field but also a clear pipeline to a future job as an HC? I would.

Re: Nate Woody
I agree. There is a lot of successful coaches out there that stem from the App coaching tree. It’s pretty awesome. I know most hadn’t heard about BJM, but he was SF interim and by all accounts, they were trying to negotiate to get him to stay. He is just an example.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 1:09 pmApp State is becoming the cradle of coaching. I love it. You've been on here long enough to know what the story is. The reason I PMed him was because Diesel was legitimately claiming to have missed it before when it has been said.NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 5:07 pm

Out of 10,000 posts, I don't recall the few that must have been about him. Sorry. Still doesn't excuse it from being private.appstatealum wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2020 5:51 pmYou've been on here long enough to know what the story is. Totally honest here. I've never heard what the rift was with Woody. I've always been curious about it, but never heard the story.
