Moving Back to FCS????
My friends asked if I knew for a fact that we would never win more than seven games during a season over the next twenty years, would I rather go back to FCS if I knew we would win multiple national titles?
What are your thoughts on this hypothetical?

Watched some FCS playoff last night, missed NDSU game today but was surprised how far App program has gone in last few years compared to playoff teams last night. Would not want to go back

Does this dumb conversation with your drunk friends really deserve it’s own thread?

Re: Moving Back to FCS????
The FCS is absolutely worse than it used to be.
Ignoring some of the other factors, the reality is less kids are playing high school ball which means a smaller talent pool. All the while more FBS teams exist since we won our last title.
Look at this:
Despite the population of the country increasing, 100k less are playing high school ball in a decade of data. I imagine that number us even lower in 2019.
Since 2008, the following teams have joined FBS:
App
Charlotte
Coastal
Georgia Southern
Georgia State
Liberty
ODU
South Alabama
Texas State
UMASS
UTSA
Western Kentucky
4 of those are from scratch since 2008, so that’s 340 new FBS Scholarships.
Then we add 22 per FCS to FBS move up, so another 176.
516 additional FBS Scholarship athletes since 2008. During a time period where the talent pool dropped by almost 10%.
But the JMU’s and NDSU’s of the world want to tell you the FCS is still the same as it was. It ain’t. The numbers just do not support it.
Edit: Got curious and checked enrollment figures for 2018-2019. Even worse, it’s dropped to just a hair over a million. https://www.nfhs.org/media/1020406/2018 ... survey.pdf

Re: Moving Back to FCS????
Unless your name is NDSU, the FCS is an afterthought these days. If they ever try to genuinely break the P5's from the G5's that irrelevancy is going to be only amplified.
We get more mileage out of being a 4x Sun Belt Conference champion than we did a 3x FCS National Champion. That right there should give you your answer.

Re: Moving Back to FCS????
I think I'm really tired of these ridiculous, fabricated scenarios. They serve absolutely no purpose. We are about to play in our fifth consecutive Bowl game and have won 4 consecutive conference titles. That's reality. Your friends should give it a try.
