Well....not really. Evidently he was a preferred walk on as a long snapper for UF so not sure I would really call that flipping a commit. App is the first FBS school to offer a full ride as a TE. So while he was going to attend UF as a preferred walk on long snapper he now is coming to App as a scholarship TE. Not really what I would call a flip.

He’s a snowboarder. Nuff said. All of this info is in the lodge. Glad August is a Mountaineer along with N2 “Nate Noel”.

Yep way too much stock is put into the whole “flip” thing. All of these kids are 18ish and nobody really knows how any of them will pan out. The “tweeners” are where we make our bread and butter anyway. Great to get both of these young men. Go Apps

Did he tell Florida he was committed to going there even as a PWO? And then "changed" to App to get a full ride? That sounds like he flipped his decision regardless of the details.

More like he found a better opportunity. We can all agree to disagree on this but I don’t see it as a flip. If he was being offered as a TE to FU, then maybe. A Flip to me is a decision based on apples to apples scenarios. Feel about it anyway you wish, but this doesn’t validate our relevance to big boy football. The kid took a a sure thing over a maybe. I think he will have a greater impact for our program than he ever would for Florida. Crowing about this only acknowledges our place in the hierarchy. We sound like Georgia Southern fans hanging their hats on beating a 4-7 Gator team.

I guess in the technical sense, it might have been a flip in that he changed his decision but the reality is that it wasn't a one for one decision. I would view it as a true "flip" if he had a scholarship offer (regardless of position) and had verbally committed. It's all semantics though and nobody has to agree. Looks like App got a great player.

I didn’t no the terminology would be such a big deal. I wasn’t really crowing about it, just saying he changed his mind and was coming to App. No it’s not one of their ones or twos changing his mind.

That size can be utilized much better at the TE position. I didn't think long snappers were taller than 6 feet in most cases.

This looks to be a good one. I’m gonna say it’s a flip, dude also had an offer from Ohio State and I believe Ole Miss

Flip is a flip . Putting this guy on our roster instead of theirs is awesome.

This is beginning to remind me of '06 when we recruited good ol' Armanti

Was recruited by lots of P5 & 1A schools & offered a full scholarship, but only if he would switch to WR. Decides to attend a small 1-AA school (Appalachian State) so he could play QB, the position he wants & loves.

No, it's not a flip by any normal understanding of the word. He didn't have scholarship offers from Florida, Ole Miss, Ohio State or any other P5. In fact I believe we were his first and only FBS offer.

However, none of that means he can't be a valuable member of App's program, or possibly outperform his recruiting ranking. People can use whatever word they want, but IMO ideally we'd all just welcome a new member of our program without making it out to be something it's not.

According to 247 Sports, he did have offers from Florida, Ohio State and Ole Miss. I’m certainly not saying that 247 is infallible though. Actually, when I saw that they had him rated as a 2-star recruit, I was skeptical about the offers myself.

They were walk on offers as a long snapper. We were the only FBS school to offer him a scholarship and the only FBS school to offer him as a TE.
