It is very intriguing and brings in a lot of thought. Unfortunately it also makes sense which precludes anyone in college football or the NCAA from every making it happen.appstate77 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 15, 2020 3:18 pmhttps://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/sec-f ... ment-2020/
Thoughts?
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Thats a pipe dream. Syracuse and Maryland would never agree to drop to a conference with us, ecu, and marshall. Not even close to realistic.

This should be the take away.
Yes, it’s fantasy.
Yes, it’s a pipe dream.
But they listed what, 9 G5 teams?
UCF, USF, Marshall, ECU, Boise, App State, Army, Navy, Temple. That’s great company.
Rather be part of the fantasy than completely ignored.

More important than the article is the fact you posted Futurama instead of The Simpson’s. #confusedfeelings

Hey, it's the off season so there are bound to be realignment fantasies to discuss. I get a little worn out with these. There is no doubt that the current conference alignments have evolved in a pretty bizarre way and don't make sense, but the idea of just starting from scratch to re-create them is just pure fantasy so it's hard to say much about it. It's flattering that App is included and who wouldn't like the fictional conference he has proposed? There are a lot of flaws in his scheme though.
Several very good programs are left out (Cincinnati, SMU and Memphis?). Also, the idea that you make the ACC competitive by removing the best program is ridiculous. Hey...let's load up the SEC even MORE so that we can have all four playoff teams included in the same conference! The answer for the ACC is for FSU, VT, Miami and some other traditional powers to start playing like power programs again....and maybe having some other big money schools play football at a higher level (UNC...talking to you). Unless you're only talking about internal competitiveness, you don't make a conference "competitive" by watering it down.
Is it almost September yet?

What always gets me is the cost schools incur for travel (as was pointed out). We must spend a fortune sending teams that generate little revenue to Texas and Louisiana for mid week games. I’m sure we fly the volleyball and women’s basketball teams. When they go play two teams in the same region do they fly in then bus to the next school? Or do they travel by bus to Texas or Louisiana?

Fantasy booking.
Let's penalize the ACC because Clemson happens to be good. It wasn't all that long ago where Clemson was Dabo-less and stunk...it wasn't all that long ago when Alabama didn't have Saban as a coach and they were mediocre....what happens when Clemson starts to go 8-4? Realignment again?

Re: Take a look at this oh powerful MMB!!
Hey, let's even out the conferences by getting rid of the waste of the SEC; that way we can take Florida State and Clemson from the ACC. We can give them UCF and USF... Seems to me like this is poorly veiled attempt to bolster the SEC even more. I would argue it wouldn't create parody in the ACC, it would create more mediocrity (UCF got beat by 8-5 Pitt who barely beat Eastern Michigan in their bowl game and USF hasn't been good since Matt Grothe was their QB).
Other than that, I like it. I do think Cincy and Memphis should be in here somewhere though. I really like the idea of a relegation system though. Bottom team from each division drops and the top two teams from the most local G5 conferences fill those empty spots.
Its a pipe dream but, I think it would be fun.
