Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
I've only been looking forward to making the trip for this since it was announced, no big deal. /s
But really, this is a huge bummer. Now I'm going to have to tailgate the whole week leading up to it to drown my sorrows.

This is fine. Thursday night on national TV >>>> sweating and being dehydrated on a Saturday at noon. We have a ton of young alums in Charlotte that will show out. I like this

Now that you mention it, would also give us extra prep time for Miami, which wouldn't be the worst thing.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 8:25 am
I don't like Thursday night games, but starting the season that way wouldn't be terrible since it doesn't create a "short week" situation. From a selfish stand-point, having it in Charlotte makes it easy for me since I work in uptown Charlotte, so I can walk to the game from my office.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Has anyone officially announced that moving the game to Thursday is a done deal and/or a Nat'l. TV broadcast of the game? I've not seen anything official other than the original twitter suggestion by a few media members of Thursday as a possibility...diehardapp18 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 9:48 amThis is fine. Two entitled P5's bullying a much anticipated in-state game between 2 G5's off their date that has been set for over 3 years, a tale old as time.

Im honestly surprised the mighty blue bloods are agreeing to play on a field that will be roughed up from inferiors playing only a day and half earlier.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
That WS Journal article makes it sound unlikely that App is going that see much compensation out of this unless the CSF is offering something outside the terms of the existing contract. It seems like they would need (or at least want) to do that to ensure both games are played in Charlotte. If the CSF is playing hard ball, It seems like App might need to cancel the game and give the $500K to ECU to play in Boone.
I would wager the game stays in Charlotte though.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
The way I see this:
1. I will now be scheduling PTO for Thursday and Friday, which will make a GREAT 5 day holiday weekend.
2. The game will be played at night, on prime time; the only bearable time for a football game that time of year in CLT.
3. After our victory, I will drive to Boone Friday am for a glorious 4 day holiday Weekend.
Win, win, win.

That's how I read it too. We seem to be the only party involved that's in a lose lose position.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
If we don't get some type of money out of this, than we really screwed up in writing the contract. My guess is BOA is paying App and ECU to move the game to Thursday, and perhaps paying us well. Really can't imagine writing that contract in a way that lets the stadium out of the deal without anything owed to the schools, that just wouldn't make any sense.

There was a 500,000 fee if either the school or the venue cancelled, but I don't know how this works since it isn't technically a cancellationt4pizza wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:17 pmIf we don't get some type of money out of this, than we really screwed up in writing the contract. Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
According to the Journal article, if we choose to enforce the cancellation cause, we get $500K from CSF, but we would then owe ECU the $500K because we would be in breach of our contract with them for failing to provide a team on the designated date. The Rock wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:22 pmThere was a 500,000 fee if either the school or the venue cancelled, but I don't know how this works since it isn't technically a cancellationt4pizza wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:17 pmIf we don't get some type of money out of this, than we really screwed up in writing the contract. I agree with the above statement that I think CSF is working with both App and ECU with some sort of compensation for moving the game. It is in everyone's best interest to make sure the game happens.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
I think we really wanted the game in Charlotte so we signed the contract. Getting it moved sux but I think we will and should play the game in Charlotte. This is a recruiting trip. Maybe some folks going to the other game will spill over into our game. One things for sure, it’s a win for Charlotte.

Sorry, no positive takes allowed. Either join in the griping or keep your thoughts to yourself.JGthatsme86 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:12 pmThe way I see this:

Not that it will change anything but sometimes it just feels good to let people know what you think. The Charlotte Sports Foundation has email addresses for their top folks right on the Webb site.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
I didn't think about driving up to Boone for Labor Day weekend. Nice idea, although my hangover Friday will probably have me headed up 321 more so in the afternoonJGthatsme86 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2020 3:12 pmThe way I see this:
