Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Who cares about Clemson/Georgia when we're supposed to be playing there? Sarcasm font in use but still.......this sucks audibly.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Move it to Thursday and give us ESPN then it's not so bad. Also, night game in Charlotte that time of year might be a bit more enjoyable. It means some will have to take off from work that didn't need to before with it scheduled on Saturday (me), but with a large group of fans and alumn in Charlotte we should still be there strong. Also, many people take off the Friday before Labor Day anyways. Manageable for students to make it down to the game as well. From a team preparation aspect, with it being the first game of the year and have all summer to prepare, not too worried.
This doesn't suck as bad as some of you think.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
It is bizarre to me that something that has been planned for years could be bumped this late.
This kills the entire point of a neutral site game in Charlotte. At this point I'd rather play the game on a Saturday in Boone, and add an extra date in Greenville later on.
Did App and ECU agree to this? Was there no contract? It seems odd that they'd be able to kick this game from its contractually-agreed upon spot just because a couple of P5s came along years later.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Can we petition to move the non-important game to noon and 8pm for us on the same day?

I guess the positive is that we could potentially be the ESPN kick off game.
Still very annoying though...

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Hopefully DG can get it bumped up to week zero on 8/28/21 and give the new QB and 3 interior OL players an early bye before facing the U down in south FL on 9/11. Playing ECU on Thursday in Charlotte is not going to bode well for either program compared to a Saturday match-up. Guess we can hope to get on the duece as NCSU v USF is on 9/2 and will most likely be on the mothership.
My vote is for the game to be moved up to week zero in '21 or push it to 2028 and find another opponent for '21. Marshall and Leon are at KBS that season so our boys could travel if necessary. I would've recommended 2025 but ECU already has 2 road games scheduled in '25 and I imagine they want 6 home games.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Breaking in a new QB while ECU will have either a 4 year starter or a 2nd year 4 star (247 sports) going for them. Rather not play week 0 if possible. If we’re the Thursday game that’s a lot of eyeballs on Appalachian State and then we have a couple extra days for Miami.

My bet is NCSU vs USF will be on the ACC network.

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Is week zero a consistent thing or was it due to having an extra Saturday this year?

Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
IIRC it’s consistent. Normally it’s just like Hawaii vs Cal rather than the UF vs Miami we got this year.

Same number of practices either way. Miami and UF just started a week earlier than everyone else this year.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 2:29 pmBreaking in a new QB while ECU will have either a 4 year starter or a 2nd year 4 star (247 sports) going for them. Re: App vs ECU getting bumped
Because Miami and Florida played their first game a week earlier than everyone else, they were allowed to start practicing a week earlier than everyone else too. Presumably that would be the case for any future "week 0" games as well.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 3:11 pmWhat do you mean?EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 3:04 pmSame number of practices either way. IOW, assuming that's the case, hypothetically moving the game up a week shouldn't change the amount of practice time we (or ECU) would get beforehand.

I know it makes money sense but one more reason for me to dislike Tepper.

Doesn't the City of Charlotte own BoA? I'm not a huge Tepper fan either but I don't think this was his call... although, I've been wrong before.ASUchipman wrote: ↑Tue Feb 18, 2020 3:52 pmI know it makes money sense but one more reason for me to dislike Tepper.
