His film at ILB looked really good and I thought he could be like Stout. I really hope this turns out to be true and he has a breakout. We need the DL to step up and be as good across the board as we were at LB and S.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 12:36 pmChris Washington could have a breakout year.NavyApp wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 11:48 amWell this thread had honest and humble beginnings lol! Not trying to derail the conversation but who is everyone's "under the radar" guy coming into the season? For me it's Zareon Hayes, I think he finally gets some significant reps and shows out.
Also any news on how the first week of practice went?

Re: 2020 Depth chart
Need to specify that at some P5s there is a difference LOL. Most of the 3rd string at Clemson, Ohio State, Alabama, etc are better than the starters at Indiana and GT. The 2nd and 3rd string at Alabama could have won the SBC for sure. Definitely a big difference in 3rd string and 1st string at schools like Indiana, GT, and even South Carolina and Vandy though.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 12:34 pmThere is a huge difference in getting a third string player from a P5 versus getting a guy that played a role on the field. Roof played at a great high school with several D1 athletes. His dad is a coach so he understands the cerebral part of the game. He has the genetic makeup of a football player. If you want some stats, 39 total tackles, 30 solo, 1 sack and 4 TOL. He had 8 total, 6 solo and 1 TOL against The Ohio State. He has played in 21 games in his college career. You don’t do that if you can’t play. To use a statement from another post that you made, coaches get the best players on the field.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2020 9:51 amBefore I say my response to this I'm not going to say Roof is a stud or that he is bad because I don't know yet. I never watched him at GT or Indiana and he did not play in 2019 so I don't know.
With that said, there are a lot of bad players at P5 schools. There are really bad players in every P5 league. Indiana was a solid team but they have starters who would not crack our lineup. Assuming he is good because he played at a P5 is like assuming a D2 player stinks because he came from there. There are D2 players in the NFL and P5 players who never make it.
I sure hope Roof turns out to be very good and I have no clue if he will be but I never assume they will be good just because they got on the field at a P5.
I’m not touting Roof as a difference maker, just pointing out some facts for some of you who want to question a kids position on a roster.
I'm not among those questioning his spot. I don't expect him to start but I felt like he would be good for depth purposes. If he can earn a starting spot then he is a heck of a player for sure. I expect our starters to be studs. They all flashed coming off the bench last year.

Re: 2020 Depth chart
I’m interested to see if Jordan Earle can take the next step and get on the field. He’s got the metrics .

I’m shocked about how much NFL experience Clark was able to add to this staff. Very excited about Nunn.

Re: 2020 Depth chart
He’s not exactly under the radar, but if Nick Hampton can make the transition from pass rush specialist to every-down player, he could be a monster.

Re: 2020 Depth chart
He has retired due to injury but he is still a part of the team. I believe that he is assisting with S&C. As to why he is still rostered, don't know.
