Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
My hope is to make the Wake game and I know we’ll make the first game for camping and tubing. After that I’m not sure.
Hate the lack of bday game in Boone for me this year (Halloween).

And GS has 11 days to prepare for us.....MrCraig wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:44 pmThere are two positives to the back-to-back Wednesday games.
1. App will have a full week to prepare for GA Southern as opposed to a short week like in year's past.
2. It's almost a guarantee those games will be nationally televised on ESPN.
But that's it. Those are the only positives I can think of. So, on Oct. 7th the whole country will get to see 15,000 people in Kidd Brewer, and the next week they will see 7,000 people in Statesboro.

Good Lord, that’s awful.
Seriously, who thought that was a good idea?!?
Sometimes it’s just too easy, they embarrass themselves without anyone having to say a word.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
Funny, my first reactions were
- Cool, finally a full week to prep for GS.
- A-State on a Saturday for Homecoming is a must-attend.
- Only one non-Saturday home game, about the best you can hope for given that we're the league's flagship program now.
Guess I need to work on my martyr complex if I want to remain a poster in good standing.

I've seen it mentioned several times by App fans that it's nice the team actually gets a week to prep for GS before traveling to the 'boro, however, the flip side is GS gets 11 days at home to prep for App.

Oh I’m well aware of the origins (song), but I think Chuck used to have it in his signature as well.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 2:02 pmCome on Man - that's The Animals - 1965BeauFoster wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 12:24 pmBack to back Wednesday night games. Super.

All things considered, the schedule could be a lot worse. I really see no surprises.

I thought it was funny. I was expecting much worse for the App game clip.appstate24 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 1:44 pmGood Lord, that’s awful.

They used a MIDI version of the Looney Tunes theme to avoid copyright issues and the length of the clips should be within the fair use act.
Air Force did a similar schedule announcement the other day.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
How could they be a lot worse? A home Wednesday night game and a subsequent Wednesday night away game.
IMO the only way it could be worse is if the GSU game came on a short week, but they still have 4 more days to prepare than us.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
Play the games on Saturday. Period. Mid week games are horrible. The main reason why they stink is that they generally kill off any game the prior or following Saturday (for Wednesday games). Are we the next MAC conference now?

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
If anyone is surprised by a mid-week game the season after you finish in the top 3 in the standings they aren't paying attention.
We are in a G5 conference, all of those conferences are contractually obligated to have 5-10 mid-week games. The SBC must have 2 Wednesday night games and 5 Thursday night ESPNU games.
If we don't get two of those games that likely means we had a bad season last year.
This is reality, the alternative is to:
1) drop down to FCS and never get exposure
2) raise about $6M a year via the Yosef Club to no longer rely upon TV for exposure and revenue
I'm all for #2, but until then stop complaining without offering a solution.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
- No short weeks.
- Only one weeknight home game.
- A-State and Troy both on Saturday.
Although I prefer Tuesday/Wednesday games to Thursday, I get why people are mad about ULL being on Wednesday. But why are people upset about playing the following Wednesday at GS? Other than those who would have made the road trip on a Saturday, but we all know GS is on a weeknight by now anyway. We get a full week to prep for them (yes I know they get a long week, but I think it's a bigger deal for us) and then we get extra time for A-State.

Bingo. And the P5s play weeknight games too.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 3:29 pmIf anyone is surprised by a mid-week game the season after you finish in the top 3 in the standings they aren't paying attention.

Nine of our games are on Saturday, including all but one home game. And this the year after we had by far the best season in Sun Belt history. Honestly, what were people expecting?
I know college football used to be exclusively on Saturdays and there are certainly benefits to that, but it's not 1985 anymore.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
On top of what you said about the midweeks, i think the contract stipulates that beginning this year they have to show 10 sunbelt home games on either ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU, which is a bump up from previous years. Not surprised ESPN probably sees the easiest path to that is having App play on a couple Wednesdays.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 3:29 pmIf anyone is surprised by a mid-week game the season after you finish in the top 3 in the standings they aren't paying attention.

Re: SunBelt Football Schedule 2020
Our 2018 schedule 3 straight home games in September and then one home game over the next 6 weeks - combine that with a Thanksgiving weekend home game to end the regular season. Much worse IMO.AppinVA wrote: ↑Fri Feb 28, 2020 3:54 pmTwo home games on weeknights? That would be a lot worse.
