Finally VERY good news in these time

Unread post by Woodstovegang » Thu Apr 02, 2020 6:01 pm

Jacoby Pinckney, from Virgina tech, transfer porthole states he's coming to the APP nation next year. 6'2" WR with very good offers out of HS. Hope he has the chip on his shoulder to prove the doubters he's a good get.

Being he redshirted last year, will he still have to sit out one year with App and have 3 left???

Sounds like a position replacement for Sutton/along with the others on current roster. I'm excited.

The offers he got out of high school were big-time...according to 247.

What does “ELG: Sitting One” exactly mean?

Don't know why he couldn't come in playing. I can't see where they ever played him in game at VT. Seems like immediate eligible to me?

It has to be hard on these young guys to take 2 years off from playing. That said he may take 3 years off. Must have had some stuff really go bad at VT.

Eligibility - must sit out a year before playing.

But he does still have 3 years of eligibility left.

Him sitting one year is actually ideal for our receiver spacing. Our top 4 guys this year are solidified. We will need Pinckney in 2021 when the senior quartet leaves.

Getting Stroman to go along with him would be nice.

Bah! I’m glad we are stacked currently then, this dude is going to be HUGE next year with Hennigan and Sutton graduating.

Is this our first 4star?

I have to think we will have some other young WRs step up also. It is impossible NOT to be nervous when losing 4 WRs AND the QB at the same time but I am still optimistic. Having a known stud to anchor the group is a HUGE plus!

Just so we're all clear, Pinckney redshirted last season, so he'll be a RS sophomore in 2021 regardless of whether he plays in 2020. Doesn't sound like there's any reason to think he would be eligible this year, though.

No offense to the young man, but being a “STUD”, in high school, doesn’t always transfer to the same level at college. Let’s see him on the field before we get to far ahead of ourselves.

Yeah, that's true. At the very least, he would have to be considered a "stud recruit." I don't put a lot of stock in the star system generally but it is more meaningful at the 4-5 star level than it is at the 3 star level. All indications are that he has the physical talent.

From what I have been able to glean from others, is that he would probably fit somewhere between Sutton and Hennigan. Good speed, good hand, good instincts.

We've had at least one other that transferred in - Tacoi Sumler a few years ago from Oregon. May have been others - possibly Tim Washington from LSU. Neither rose to the stardom we hoped for.
