Football recruiting rankings - retrospect analysis

One of my points I have continually harped on is has there been any analysis of how players have performed (results) in college vs how they were ranked coming out of high school. In other words, did their college career performances match their hype. This all goes back to our opinion of star ratings, etc. Which coaches are doing a better job finding diamonds in the rough, etc.

Well here is a good article from ESPN regarding that exact topic, albeit they only considered the ESPN top rated recruits from each year. I would like to see this analysis for the majority of the recruits.

Keep in mind that all of these players listed were the #1 rated high school players for that year. Interesting the results that occurred for a variety of reasons.

You need ESPN+ to view this article but I assume all of the readers on this board are since you want to watch all of our games.

Don't take this as me being a smart aleck. A statistic class would prove that this is just math. No way with a sample size that large many players would live up to the hype. Like finding a needle in a haystack or in statistic terms...too many variables to have a valid conclusion.
