Atleast we could count the win vs UNC Concord.

Unfortunately for reality, this makes sense.

I'll give him credit for at least being creative. There are plenty of major issues with this idea, but I admit I'm intrigued by the core idea of no longer having "power conferences" and just having 10 different regional leagues of *theoretically* similar strength.

Of course, as he notes, that's also a big reason it would never be considered.

Can anyone imagine Clemson fans at the little Richardson field in Charlotte? Some fans would be buying tickets to sit on top B of A tower

I agree that, he at least gets credit for being creative, but how do GSU, ODU, Charlotte several others (most MAC programs) make the cut while Troy gets relegated? That makes no sense at all. I would also hate not having Georgia Southern in our conference.

I'd gladly drop Southern for this. Don't see it though. Reality is the financial problem is short term and the P5's can weather it.

I almost stopped reading when I saw that about Troy. I assume it was for regional balance, but he went overboard there.

UMass already has no business being FBS and yet they somehow make the cut here.

Yep, the only argument for leaving GSU and Charlotte in there is the "potential" since they are large market urban schools. Maybe basketball, but FCS would go to the same tourny in basketball. Troy has recent success in football, basketball and baseball. He needs to find another way to balance his regions. No way they should be excluded.

Yes, Coastal was left out but that one is a little easier to understand. I'm not saying I completely agree with it but Coastal is a smaller institution and has not yet shown competitiveness at the upper level (other than baseball of course). I do believe Coastal is rising but I also think they have a lot of work to do before they are out of the woods....meaning infrastructure, finances and fan support as much as actual competitiveness.

One major issue here is giving an auto bid to every league when there are some major imbalances AND you practically eliminate OOC play. I mean that Yankee Conference is Penn State and the 11 Dwarves (including the aforementioned UMass AND UConn, another one that might drop down soon anyway).

The "Mideast" league is basically taking a G5 and sticking OSU, Michigan and Michigan State into it.

He should have explained with a sentence or two the reasons the schools were dropped as it was not based on on-field performance, or put their score he came up with for the 120 schools in his FBS.

Also is NDSU have that much better academics than us? That is the only explanation for their ranking of so many places higher than us.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

With the possible exception of Charlotte, I think the proposed Mid Atlantic looks like the most competitive.

Another article theorizing on App in the ACC

https://www.si.com/.amp-duke-universit ... s-new-home

Of course this is based on original Pat Forde but this guy still calls it ACC.

Regardless all of these national conference theories have App in the conversation. Keep winning and maybe one day it will happen.
