None of these will ever happen but it's fun to think about. Which option would you pick?

Hmmm... Just a random thought. Cancel 2020 college footballl. Would that force the issue across the CFB landscape???

It might force the Prig 5 schools to move further away though it would be nice if something more equitable for all FBS schools to have a shot at a championship which would include a place for every conference champion to be in the playoffs. Maybe, just maybe the money involved in that would be enough to move the Prig 5 on this, because I do think the money in this would be bigger than March Madness.

I would want to see something where each year stood on its own with the exception that a conference winner would get a one year reprieve so if they go from the top to the bottom they are not getting relegated down but if they go for 2nd place or worse to the bottom then they are relegated. That could provide a small amount of breathing room for teams that are so successful they lose coaches due to success.

I would say another brick in the realignment wall has been laid! Tuesday night ESPN 2 had a College Football special. They had all the usual losers except for Herbstreit and Fowler. The entire show was about the upcoming season, of course. The significant point was that they referred to the P5 as the “Autonomous five”, over and over. I thought that was pretty telling. ESPN is silently pushing for the P5 to separate. So it has taken another small step in relegating the G5 to FCS status! Up until this show I really did not think we could/would have college football. I am now convinced that ESPN will spend whatever money and effort necessary to get the Autonomous Five on TV this year!
