I have said before on this forum and I'll say it again now, we should schedule UNCC year in and year out. As their program grows this can develop into a great in-state rivalry between the two schools. We have tons of alumi in Charlotte, so the games both in Boone or in Charlotte will almost always be a sellout. Due to our current conference affiliation we don't have many games that move the needle, so a guaranteed non-conference sell out every other year is what both programs need. They don't like us and we don't like them and that's what college football is all about.😁
We are doing the best we can to make that happen. Schedule pretty much full through 2025. We got UNC Concord on the schedule 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029.

I agree. I know that many on here oppose the idea because they feel we are helping them gain legitimacy, but I disagree with that logic. Regardless, that ship has sailed. They are in our peer/rival conference, and the logistics just make too much sense. We need to cultivate this as an actual rivalry and not just a message board pissing contest.

count me in the camp that wanted intermittent instead of regular matchups with UNCC, but I guess we need a new WCU.

This game seems to hold much more interest by those who live near Charlotte (Captain Obvious). As for me, working and living near the triangle area, I've yet to meet a Charlotte fan in person. The game really has no meaning to me whatsoever other than them being an obstacle in our schedule. It has been nice to silence their internet trolls, but otherwise I don't care about them. I do think we should play them often due to proximity, but not annually. A couple of home and homes every decade would be about all I would do.

After beating UNC And USC last year, all the teams in the Triad don’t want to play us, at least this year. I believe all of them think they would have less than a 50% chance of winning even on their home field. I wish one would man-up enough and take us on. It would be good for All football fans in this state. On the other hand, UNCC is 0-2 against us with nothing to lose.

To be honest, other than the football game in '18 I've never met a UNCC fan in person. Plenty of their alumni- but they are all fans of other schools.

I live less than 10 miles from their campus and I have yet to meet a UNCC fan in person. The last "conversation" I had with a UNCC "fan" was on the bus from the tailgate to the stadium in 2018 when a drunk student started cursing at App fans for no reason. I asked him to quiet it down since there were children on the bus -- including my 1.5 year old. His response was even more vulgar and directed to my wife and daughter. Had my daughter not been there, there's a good chance I would still be in jail.

I’ve met 1 true Charlotte fan, and he still believes an SEC invite is coming shortly. I wish I had his optimism on all things in life, as he just lives with his head in the clouds.

THIS...ALL OF THIS!!! App fans staking this "legitimacy claim" about UNCC are no better than the Weak and Peedee fans who say the same about playing App. Each program legitimizes itself based on performance and nothing else. App has competed and beaten much better programs than anyone located inside NC and App has lost to what many of our fans view as lesser programs.

If a program is willing to play App, this is all that needs to be said:

Y’alls stadium looks so much better without the track. That tweet is a great shot of the changes.

We appreciate that. We’re gonna “break it in” on September 12.

I know we needed a home game and I'm happy for the players but I kind of wish it was away due to the likely restrictions on attendance. If Cooper doesn't move NC out of phase 2, not likely to have (m)any fan$ in the $tand$. This also puts App on the road against the 49ers in back to back seasons ('29 & '30) where tickets will be a hot commodity.

With the game scheduled for September 12th, maybe we will luck out but I'm not holding my breath:
Under Executive Order 155, North Carolina remains in Safer At Home Phase 2 of lifting COVID-19 restrictions until at least Friday, Sept. 11. People are also required, with some exceptions, to wear face coverings while out in public when physical distancing of 6 feet is not possible.

Watch their last outing and it's hard not to feel like Clark will be able to name his own score next month. I hope we can see some of our new guys play when it gets out of hand.

Dear UNCC,

Being winless against App State does not necessarily mean you are due for a win.
