I need y’all to get this game on TV!
I thought sure that with UNCC’s SEC contacts you would get this game televised prime time. CLT is slipping

OOC Game TV coverage typically falls upon the home team to line up. Nice dig though. That was awesome.

It was a pretty sweet dig. Can't believe the 1st school on the SEC shortlist couldn't get more than 1 game televised on the CUSA schedule. Luckily for you, the premier team in the Charlotte market will come through with a nice TV spot for you to watch the game.

Although if Cooper loosens restrictions today, you might get to see it in person...

If you want to show the stats then show the total picture. Here are the numbers from 2012 to last year. I picked 2012 because that is about the time our football stuff really started cranking up.

As for student fees, our respective fee amounts are very comparable. We raise more because we have 10,000 more students. I do agree though our fee is too high and so is yours but this is typically the only way G5 schools can do this - even more so in NC where general funds from tuition are not supposed be used for athletics. An important thing to note as well is our fee is in response to a student vote in favor of football. It was the highest turn out for a SGA vote in UNC System history and the students over whelming approved increased fees for football and the majority supported the highest increased possible. I know this doesnt make sense for most of you since you just showed up on campus with a winning football program. We had to jump through all kinds of hoops for the UNC system just to allow us to start a program. An odd thing for us is every building we build - academic or athletic has to be fully funded before we break ground. We are the only institution in the state that operates that way. That has also assisted us in the current climate.

Also makes sense that your ticket sales are higher - you have about twice the number of tickets to sell. You also have more signage space in the larger stadium so the rights and licensing part makes sense as well.

You also take in about twice the amount we do in school funds to operate your AD.

You do have some pragmatic leadership and they took some painful steps I am sure. I have no doubt that if we had to make those decisions we would. As much as I hated Judy Rose, one of the good things she did was build a 30-35 million cash reserve fund that has thus far protected us from having to significantly cut back any spending or staffing or sports.

Im not even bothering to fire back with some of your other comments, but if you want to show stats - show them all.

It’s fascinating that they’ve been calling us poor all summer. I guess it’s because we cut three of our 20 sports and joined the rest of the G5 (including them) at 16-18 teams. In reality this only demonstrates the fact that we have more pragmatic leadership.

Here in the real world, this is how the two athletic departments compare financially: https://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/

UNCC only survives by extorting its students

2018
Ticket Sales, App: $3,148,113 UNCC: $1,954,698

Contributions, App: $4,602,783 UNCC: $3,849,951

Student Fees: App: $12,518,144 UNCC: $21,667,200

Rights/Licensing, App: $4,068,814 UNCC: $3,503,273

School Funds, App: $10,093,111 UNCC: $5,117,367

Other: App, $2,509,902 UNCC, $1,827,130

Percentage of total revenue from student fees, App: 34% UNCC: 57%

App funding exceeds UNCC’s in EVERY. SINGLE. non-student fee category.

Quite frankly I find it absolutely criminal that they fund more than half of their athletic department from student fees considering they’re probably at the very bottom of the country in student interest and attendance of their athletic programs. At a time when the student debt crisis is in the trillions.

FYI NWA this isn't all a negative balance. A large portion of this is transfers to the AD of $$ owed for our larger concessions (run by App food services) and merch purchased by our much larger fanbase.

To be honest I don't what all the $$ in school funds accounts for, but this is a large chunk.

I figured it would open at about 17 because of last year's score. A bit surprised it reached 20. I'm sure the early bets will pull it back down.

Actually, I said what I meant, just a larger fanbase period. If you hadn't noticed, our mens basketball program has passed yours.

I was at the game last year. Your boys played well. Too bad you didnt have more of your larger fanbsase show up to see it. The first half was some of the worst I have ever seen a Charlotte team play - and I have seen plenty of bad charlotte basketball.

As for having passed our basketball - we have been one of the worst basketball programs in the nation after a solid 1990-2005 15 year run. We still have more fans coming to our games. We also set a record with number of home wins last, beat Davidson and Wake at home. We havea
top 75 recruiting class in 2020. Losing at App isnt that big a deal - we have taken better teams there and loss. We shall see if your basketball has turned a corner - hell we will see if ours has gotten back to past ways, but if they do turn the corner I hope more of your football fans show up and care.

Interesting take. Is a football fan only worth .25 of a basketball fan in your eyes or something?

Please remember this position when UNCC inevitably beats us in football. I don't think its happening this year, but you'll get at least 5 more chances in the later 20's, who knows what will happen.

I can already imagine the 10 or 20 UNCC fans proclaiming that they "finally" left App in the rear view mirror with a victory.

Realistic (rather than reported) attendance averages would probably run something like

App: 26,000 and UNCC: 6,000 for football

App: 1,000 and UNCC: 2,000 for basketball

I emailed the chancellor about the game this morning and got a response rather quickly that there will be an announcement very soon and that they expect it later today.

Not going to lie, I stopped reading NWAs post when he said “because that is about the time our football stuff really started cranking up...”

I didn’t realize it had, in fact, cranked up yet.

-20.5 line seems a little optimistic. UNCC made it a game last year and I suspect the same this year.

I really want to see our defense perform well. My expectations for our offense are the same as last year given we return the house. But I’ll definitely be more excited if we won a 28-10 game versus a 55-30 horse race.

I'll settle for the best of your two world's and go with 55-10 App.

Natty says App’s football fan base is larger than Clt’s total fan base.
