Honestly, I would imagine that scheduling an AAC opponent would be better than a P5. A win against competition in our path to a NY6, would carry more weight if the decision is needed.JPatH3292 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 8:21 amWell replacing our 2 games with say Charlotte and ECU would be ideal. Especially if we can’t keep Wake this year. I don’t mind a game against LR or GW, as long as it’s just one game.
Non of the other NC ACC teams will not go out of their way to schedule us this year if they don’t have to. We aren’t going to be able to replace anyone to the level of Wisconsin so the NY6 argument kind of goes out the window. That is if we even have a season this year.

Re: Schedule
Independent UCONN has thrown in the proverbial towel on the 2020 football season. This as the NCAA is edging closer to a go or no-go call on the fall season as per the morning news reader on ESPN.

Guys we're not playing Lenoir-Rhyne. FBS schools don't play Division II schools.
Now Gardner-Webb is certainly a possibility. Just hoping we don't end up with 2 FCS games.

I say "nicht" to Campbell, Elon, G-W, NC Central and NC A&T. "Lieber nicht" play WCU, but I could accept it as a special circumstance filler at KBS.

I have also heard Campbell is replacing the Morgan State game. A family friend plays football for Campbell and he told us they were informed by their coaching staff.

Speaking of UCONN, FOX sportscaster Jim Gray was just commenting on the Huskies' decision and seemed pretty certain the NCAA was nearing a decision to cave-in to overwhelming feedback from the parents of student-athletes. No football.

Grown ass men being paid to play 60 Major League Baseball games in empty stadiums can’t steer clear of the virus. No way 18-22 year old kids on an open campus will avoid it. My guess is ultimately no football.

I haven't confirmed what I'm hearing is true. Have some feelers out though.

If the NCAA actually makes that determination what do you see the P5 do? - the G5? - I can't at this point see the P5 just folding up and packing it in -

I have a strange affinity to beating the ever living heck out of Campbell. I wouldn't mind playing them, and I'd love to break the record of 222-0.

Re: Schedule
Guys,
I want football as well but will we make money off these games? With very limited capacity I can't imagine a gate that is very lucrative and worth the risks.
I also wonder about the impact of agents and others pointing out how those games won't help the stock of our guys. They likely encourage them to sit out and return or prepare for the draft like Caleb Farley did. If we play teams like L-R, Campbell, GW to start the season then I would not blame our seniors for saying they won't play and will return in 2021.
As far as team goals, playing those games will not help us with the NY6 and beating them 50-0 won't put us in the top 25. Going 12-0 means nothing if you blame Sisters of the Poor and Blind every week.

With a new untried head coach, what makes you think we are NY6 level team this year? Just asking.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 2:14 pmGuys,

This is the team that is good enough to make a NY6 Bowl but with teams like that there is no way we will. Going 12-0 means nothing if you blame Sisters of the Poor and Blind every week.

Re: Schedule
How in the world would we be a NY6 team? - no major opponents? no ranked SB teams to beat - no P5 cross-conference match-ups don't help either - I just see virtually 0 chance - if I am missing something please let me know -

Clark was the interim against MTSU and looked really good as the head man in that game. We also had a new untried coach in 2019 and went 13-1. The majority of that team is back and we return a star QB, great OL, and a ton of clearly future All-SBC guys on defense to replace the losses like Jackson, Hampton, Huff, etc.NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Aug 05, 2020 2:23 pmWith a new untried head coach, what makes you think we are NY6 level team this year? I'm clearly not insane on this thought process because a few publications have us in the top 25. I'm not saying this team is top 25 or that we will go to a NY6 but these seniors deserve the chance to play for it with how we have built this program but playing those schools will not give us that chance.

Re: Schedule
You are missing nothing. With the rumored schedule, there is ZERO chance. I would watch the games if they are on TV but I won't waste 200-250 bucks to go see a game that should be over by halftime. I would play SBC schedule only if they don't cancel the season.
