Wonder if we are trying for an out of state game for the first week or just giving up on that weekend.

This game was a no-brainer for both programs given the situation. I absolutely think Charlotte deserves kudos for scheduling the game and for the schedule they are putting together. Yes, App is still ahead of them on the football field, but make no mistake....this game is for local bragging rights and for recruiting. It should be an ongoing rivalry. Charlotte made some big steps last season and played us tougher than expected. They helped to expose some issues on D so that we could fix them and have that celebrated 13-1 season.

I hope we can add a couple more good games and most importantly....get to play them!

GO APPS!

BYU has an opening on 9/26.

Weak and App have opening on 10/3.

Yeah but we don’t. Pretty much eliminates us from the running unless we can move conference games around.

Any updates on what the schedule is looking like other than the UNCC addition?

Per each school’s online schedule, both App and BYU have open dates on 9/19.

Huge win for UNC-Concord. They are trying to gain notoriety and respect so they add Duke, UNC and a top 25 team from last year. No need to pat them on the back for adding us. Its totally a bigger win for them than it is us. Its not like we are switching out UMASS for the commuter school. We are replacing Wake and Wisconsin with them so far. Not stellar. Still better than Campbell.
Gee, no wonder nobody will schedule you.

14 pages and you cherry pick one comment? No one is scheduling App because wins may be at a premium and the P5 conferences are scheduling conference games+1. Clearly those schools in the middle of the road aren't going to want to schedule App if they are fighting for 6 wins.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Clemson and App scheduled because it's still almost a sure win for Clemson (99.76%) and App should help their SoS a bit.

Missed that one...Good catch!

Wonder if we could get ESPN to push it back at least 1 day??? We've played on Saturday and the following Thursday several times.

Really? I would would veto it. The only thing worse than weeknight games is weeknight games on short weeks. That Saturday needs to remain an open date as planned unless la la gets moved to Saturday.

Edited to add: we are scheduled to play at the stink on the 14th, so that would be short weeking what are probably two of the most important opponents on the schedule. Not that any is less important, but the stink needs a properly rested App squad for their revenge whooping, and la la needs to fail again.

If an AD and coaching staff are avoiding us because of message board statements then that school has some pretty crappy people working for them. I could understand it a bit if a current employee said some things, though that is really more for bulletin board motivational material even then. but I don't think anyone here is an official employee of App State.

Charlotte boosters can get all upset if they like and we can do the same from things posted on ninernation.net as that is part of the fun of the alumni junk talk for some but the employees should not be wasting time on these boards in that fashion.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Seriously???

We will be lucky to fill all 4 spots. Another home game I’ll take it. It’s not like we can just name the opponent we want. Kick Campbell’s teeth in and keep it rolling.

GO APPS!!

Exactly. I mean, we were to open with an FCS in Morgan State...of which I know not a single alum personally. Now, we've scheduled Campbell, another FCS team of which I do know a couple of alums. It's not much of a trade but at least we're keeping it in-state. Same goes for Charlotte. They are just *as good* as UMASS on the field and they were willing to play in Boone this season...another trade I'm comfortable with. IF we could just snag one P5 game, anyone, anywhere, at this point then I'd say that DG has done a REMARKABLE job given an unprecedented environment literally changing by the hour.
