Re: Schedule
Yes, it is. It represents our school very poorly. Teenager, not a teenager, all society does is make excuses for such poor work. Those weren't typos.

Considering you’re about 50 butchy boy I would not be arguing wether a teenager spelled some stuff right. Rather encourage him on what he was doing right just my take . I was just trying to pass some info on to everyone. Not a big deal .

Go ahead be ticked of about something so trivial. That’s your choice. I’m just glad for the information. I’ll try and not speak for all of society.

Re: Schedule
Guys...just a head's up about the Tweet and the young man that posted it. I read an article about him recently in the local paper (Hickory Daily Record) and he is a student at Hickory High and is Special Needs. He works hard, as he has to work harder than most, has a great family support system behind him, and is really involved in the theatre (technical) program. I believe he is going to Western Carolina this fall to participate in one of their Technical Stage & Design programs. He has grew up and remains a big App fan. By all accounts, he is really overachieving in life thus far...good for him.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Fri Aug 21, 2020 9:25 pmConsidering you’re about 50 butchy boy I would not be arguing wether a teenager spelled some stuff right. I generally think one should cheer for ones own school But since he is going to a non-football school I hope he continues rooting for App.HkyMtneer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 7:13 amGuys...just a head's up about the Tweet and the young man that posted it. My daughter follows someone on Twitter that is from that area and comes across as special needs. I think last year he was wanting programs from home games.
I have seen more than a few cases of wasted talent in my day. So inspiring to see someone push themselves and move to the next level.

Re: Schedule
Thanks for sharing this info. I changed my comment, though I did not attack or make a mean comment about it, I still think my comment was in poor taste about spelling. I respect the young man for living the App mantra “Today I Give My All”, as it is very clear he loves all App and he posts constantly about App (I looked up his Twitter).HkyMtneer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 7:13 amGuys...just a head's up about the Tweet and the young man that posted it. I wonder what options we are nearing towards for a potential Dec 5 game, if that even happens

Re: Schedule
I am not sure if this is the year to do it, but I am not sure if the fan that always called in after the game, and tweets now that we are going that route, for post game Q&A with fans, has been to a game in Boone yet. Maybe that got worked out. I was going to offer an extra ticket to him when we played in Charlotte and I think I found out that he no longer lived in Charlotte and moved to near Greenville (I can't believe I forgot his name but it is escaping me at the moment). He always asked about attendance. I am not sure if he would need family along and I only had one spare ticket to give as it was. (I ended up giving away a ticket to a random App student that just happened to ask me near the entrance gate if I had any to spare and I told him I had one for free, so it did not go to waste.) Pierre Banks and I had a few emails about getting this fan from Charlotte a ticket. It never got very far once we found out he had moved out of that area.
I am not sure if this fan in Hickory has been to a game in Boone either. If it is the same person my daughter mentioned from Twitter then it seemed he was not able to attend games for whatever reason.
I would be willing to toss in a few dollars to pay for a couple tickets for each of these fans and one family member if that is what is needed. If not this year then we need to remember this for the 2021 season.
Both of these fans could so easily root for the flagship schools that get so much more press around the state but they have chosen to give their fandom to App State. An excellent choice that also shows their character and their excellent taste in college football.

Re: Schedule
For reals. I for one think Sin Belt is a pretty good twist considering how much of an abomination it is for App to be in it.

For those that are interested, and I realize we are veering a bit off the topic of schedule and I apologize for continuing that veer, but here is a link to the article I referenced above that told us a little bit about this young man and his love for App, etc.

Re: Schedule
I wanted to ask a question about the schedule but seeing the OT turn this thread has taken, if I may, I would like to make a comment. I have difficulty with grammar and spelling even though I have two undergrad and one grad degree. Spell check helps but there is no "diction" check and that sometimes belies what someone is saying. I formerly (as of several months ago) posted on four USC boards for years, and saw this type of misunderstanding and ruffled feathers happen often. Yes, NLL, people are mean, but sometimes we major on minors and people are misunderstood, labeled, or hurt as a result. As a parent of a 100% disabled adult child, I have some experience in this. The young man in question is certainly over achieving. People like him and my son have one thing in common, they never give up. Jim Valvano would be proud of them. As a personal example of how easy posting using the wrong diction can be, three years ago I posted a thread that embarrassed me tremendously. I was thankful for the board's anonymity. My post took a life of its own, and since it was the off season, it gave a much needed laugh for everyone. Here is title of my post, "When is USC going to get an O lineman with a mean steak?" I meant to say "streak"!
Now to the schedule question I originally had; I want to come to a game and had planned for that to be the Wake game but now I am trying to find out what game to attend.
