Hated to hear the news but wish Sutton nothing but the best. He’s an electric receiver who showed up big in big situations. Don’t know his future plans, but if he never plays another snap, he helped raise our program.

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
Sutton coming back in 21 is obviously huge if that's how it plays out given the amount of talent graduating at WR after this season. He and Pickney should feature and his absence this year will allow for guys like Wells, Davis, Horn, etc to get some reps.
Glad Corey was able to make the right decision for him. I'm sure it wasn't an easy one.

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
From what Shawn Clark said, he is returning in 2021. That is really the right choice if he is sitting out because he needs to show the NFL he is healthy. I don't think he would get drafted if the draft were today because of the suspension, being a little tight as a runner, expected high 4.5 speed, and the injury. If he could play a full year healthy, run low 4.5s, and put up good numbers then I think he has a great shot to get drafted. He is very talented and a good kid so I hope that is his plan because he is too good to leave Boone and not get drafted.

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
Given that the individual opted out of the season last month, I don’t think that it has been released to the public. Just pay attention to Pierre’s position analysis and watch depth charts and you should be able to figure it out.

Rather he comes back to App (I hope) or takes the NFL route, I just hope he can stay healthy enough to reach his full potential. Best of luck to him either way!

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
I have heard, from a reliable friend that was on campus, that it is Raykwon Anderson. We may be deep at RB but Anderson is a very good player and any time you lose a RB it hurts depth big time because of the higher risk of injury for them.
We may also have another player besides Sutton and Anderson opt out but I am not sure our coaches even know yet so I won't say who it is. I just know the player is being pushed by agents to sit and the agents think there is more than a 50/50 chance he does so.

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
Clark stated in an interview yesterday that Corey intends to come back in 2021. He was set to miss some games early on while rehabbing and therefore shut it down.

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
Clark talked like he would return in 2021, as AppSt94 said, but I would consider it 50/50 just because of the fact that agents are pushing these guys to come out. Sutton would not get drafted as of today and needs more film so I am hopeful he does the right thing and returns. If he is 100% healthy and plays like we know he can then he would get drafted for sure in 2022.

Re: Corey Sutton - Opting Out
If it was Raykwon Anderson who is also opting out, he would effectively be getting his red-shirt year back. He was pressed into service last year because of depth and certainly did a great job, but I'm not sure his best position is even at RB. I guess that is for the coaches to decide.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 1:36 pmI have heard, from a reliable friend that was on campus, that it is Raykwon Anderson. I was under the impression you could essentially retain your redshirt and have two redshirt years if you wanted to sit this year. I don't blame him at all here. I hope Malik Williams plays but still takes the option and returns because he did not redshirt either.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 2:04 pmIf it was Raykwon Anderson who is also opting out, he would effectively be getting his red-shirt year back. That's true. Maybe he wants to focus on WR and not risk injury in an "out of position" season. That's pure speculation on my part.

There is more to this than what you think. I wish him the best in his next steps in life and his football career.

Jamie Newman Opts out at UGA. If anyone thought Corey may want to go to a P5 to improve his position you may want to look at this article. Newman was a shoe-in to start at UGA and decided not to play out, even at a prime SEC school.

Don't know that he was a shoe-in to start. Once JT Daniels (transfer from USC) got approved to play immediately, that starting role might have been significantly decreased.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Wed Sep 02, 2020 4:19 pmJamie Newman Opts out at UGA. Funny thing is he went to UGA because he thought needed another year on the field to prove his NFL worthiness, now he decides that he doesn’t need that year. Oh, that is after a few practices. Raise Daniels.
Point is these guys don’t always know what they are getting into when they start opting out and moving around.
If Corey is waiting due to need for additional healing then it makes perfect sense otherwise there may be more questions than answers.

That was mentioned in Wed mornings Greensboro paperp-the brother part at least, and mention of his dad as well.CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Tue Sep 01, 2020 7:32 pmCorrect me if I'm wrong.....but isn't 2021 recruit, Coen Sutton, Cory's brother?
If so would this factor in the decision?
