More than one conf champ

Has there ever been a year when one state claimed more than one FBS football conference champion? Example would include App as Sunbelt coupled with a NC ACC or AAC. Obviously hasn’t happened with anyone with us. Has any state claimed this accomplishment?

First one that popped in my head was Alabama and UAB in 2018

UVA and tech in 1995 back when tech was in the big East

Ucf and FSU in 2014

the only True P5 one seems to be Florida and Florida state in 2008.

Surely Miami/FSU/Florida did it a few times, right?

I forgot to even look at Miami. But Florida FSU in the 90s 2000s was my first thought

Edit: uf and Miami (big East) 91 94 95 96 00
I’m sure there are some more with FSU and one where Florida had the acc big East and acc champ

Yes, just checked, bunch of years in the '90s up to 2000 where all three of the Florida schools won their conferences.

Also I believe UCF and FAU both won their leagues in 2017.

Wow should have said, outside of the state of Florida! We obviously have a tad bit of disdain for the Tarheels but maybe they knock of Clemson and take the ACC so we have two champs in NC. How about a MAC champ out of Ohio with Ohio State? Pretty tough to find a combo outside of Florida

As much as unc fans claim that Clemson keeps them from winning the acc, unc has only appeared once in the acc championship game since it’s inception. In term of coastal division champs Boston college va tech and ga tech have more appearances and duke, wake, uva Miami and Pitt have just as many appearances (1).

Weirdly I couldn’t find N.C. state anywhere on the acc championship game Wikipedia. After knowing many state fans throughout my life, I for sure thought that N.C. state had not only played in almost every acc championship game that they surely most be one of the best teams in the country.

Edit: my point is that UNC probably won’t win an acc championship anytime soon.

Good point, that happened just last year as Miami (OH) won the MAC title and of course Ohio State won the B1G.

Without going back to match up the years, I know Toledo and Bowling Green have won the MAC in recent years also; I'm guessing that would be another example or two. Also Cincinnati won the Big East once (not sure if they've ever won the AAC).

Could probably find a few times where San Diego State won a conference title the same year as a CA team won the Pac 12. Last happened in 2015 (SDSU won Mountain West, Stanford won Pac 12).

In 2005 and 2009, TCU won the Mountain West and Texas won the Big 12.

Alright, I need to go do some work or I'm going to spend all afternoon on Google.
