2. If Appalachian State goes undefeated, it'll play in a New Year's bowl: If the Mountaineers, under first-year coach Shawn Clark, can get through October unscathed -- which would require beating Louisiana (home), Georgia Southern (road) and Arkansas State (home) in consecutive weeks -- they'll be overwhelming favorites in their final five games. A 12-0 record and conference title might give them a shot at a New Year's Six bowl, even with a very soft schedule; and 11-1 might put them in position to replace a Big Ten team in a New Year's Day bowl game in Florida. I think the Mountaineers will lose at least once, probably at Georgia Southern.

The Athletic also has another G5 article this morning where they give a nod to us along with UCF, Cincinnati, Memphis, us and “MAYBE Louisiana”, as the only G5 schools with a shot to make the CFP this season if things got weird.

I know it won’t happen, but as usual, love being part of that conversation.

"Coach on the hot seat: Steve Campbell, South Alabama" This part may prove to be true, but is currently more accurate about USA's 1st week opponent (Jay Hopson, Southern Mississippi): https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... erim-coach

OK...who can tell me something about Mr. Horn? Kid must be a baller and I'm gettin' worked up and hope we see him scorch some 49ers come Saturday in his debut... :D

I haven’t investigated much but Clark mentioned him in the teleconference when talking about filling in for Sutton.

If we go undefeated and there's two AAC teams over us for a NY6 Bowl Game then we need to pull a UCF and claim a title. Nothing aggravates me more than the automatic bowl tie-ins. Not saying App would finish top 3 in the SEC, but we hardly get a shot to prove it.
