Gameday Menu thread!

Unread post by Neer86 » Fri Sep 18, 2020 4:10 pm

what are you guys cooking for the game tomorrow?

It's nice to have a 3:30 kickoff. Breakfast will be bacon, eggs, grits and toast smothered in sausage gravy.

The game day menu will include deviled eggs, chips and salsa, cheeseburgers, washed down with the salty tears of Marshall fans, and of course....there will be beer!

(menu subject to change...except for the beer part)

Pics are encouraged!

Unfortunately there’s no tailgating in Huntington tomorrow. My daughter and I are going to get KFC and picnic by the Ohio river park then head to the game! I see a lot of app flags in town!

Feeling a low country boil. Shrimp, clams, chicken, red taters, corn on the cob and lots of Old Bay. Plus beer.

Very important question and a heavily debated one. I've seen people get a bit testy about it like you would think they would over bbq. How do you make your deviled eggs?

I love to eat deviled eggs, but don't like making them. I've always found that you'll get the best deviled eggs at church on a day when they have a covered dish meal. So I'm kind of traditional. I know there are a lot of recipes out there with all kinds of wacky stuff added in, but I just

6 hard-cooked eggs, peeled, cut in half, and yolks mashed in a bowl
2 tablespoons mayonnaise (Dukes)
2 teaspoons yellow mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
3/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon distilled white or cider vinegar
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Salt to taste
Paprika for garnish.

I like the filling to have a little bite, and the vinegar does that in this recipe without overwhelming the flavor profile. Got to get them eggs into ice water after boiling so they don't overcook and get that greenish tint. If you put some vinegar in the water to cook the eggs, that makes it easier to peel.

You'll like that. (not the putting it together part)

Weber has the best customer service I've ever seen. Bose is second. I know people who had parts of their grill just wear out, normally, and when called to order a replacement, were given the part for free. That's pretty cool.
