Graduation happens every year. Played without sutton the first and last 3 games of last year. That's just an excuse, we have 85 schollys

And the other teams we play just might get better? And they arent in a 3 year coaching rotation? And we missed 2 weeks of practice? It just might take a season or two to get refocused.

Even the "experts" say - "3 coaches in 3 years, but they just plug in a new one and keep going" - sooner or later the plugs don't fit exactly right and it takes time to make some tweaks but it will come together because an overwhelming number of the parts are already in place.

This wasn't just graduation... Evans left early, next RB (MWJ) was out, Sutton out, Pearson out. Thats our top 2 RBs, top WR, and top TE out without graduating.

Drinkwitz was really the only coach that was "plug and play" in our history, and even he took a few games to get rolling on defense. Satterfield took half a season, Moore took a while. Heck, Mack Brown was 6-5 in his first and only season.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 9:58 amEven the "experts" say - "3 coaches in 3 years, but they just plug in a new one and keep going" - sooner or later the plugs don't fit exactly right and it takes time to make some tweaks but it will come together because an overwhelming number of the parts are already in place.

Hard to blame our Coaches when we are consistently fumbling away tds, throwing ints in the Red Zone and missing fgs. Clean this up and we will be kicking ass again!

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
To me missing the key players was that Pearson likely would not have been caught or fumbled like Evans did and that type of play is not one that Evans normally runs. That had an effect but we also did not execute. The overthrow of Williams in the endzone, the bad route and throw that caused the pick, and Zac just not being accurate were among many reasons we lost. If you just remove the mistakes that we normally would not have made then we win the game. Marshall is too good to beat and make those type of mistakes. We can do that this week against Campbell and still win but just can't do that when you play good teams. I suggest we don't make those mistakes because they become habits.
I hope we see more of Wells and Horn this week and the rest of the season. They seem to be very good players and I hope we use our depth at WR.

Not all are on athletic scholarships. Ask Saint who posts on here. We are far from being fully funded.

Re: Appalachian St at Marshall Game Thread
We did miss practice in August, however, we had early spring practice and got several practices in prior to shut down which many schools did not. If you have coaching changes, there will be transition. We have crazy high expectations with our history in general.... couple that with going 13-1, beating two P5 schools in process and all the talent back on offense, we set even higher expectations...or at least I did especially when Wisconsin and Wake Forest coming off schedule. I thought we had good chance to go 1-0 every week.appvette wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 11:46 amDrinkwitz was really the only coach that was "plug and play" in our history, and even he took a few games to get rolling on defense. We have 85 players on athletic scholarship. Being fully funded would only mean that athletic department funds are not being used to meet the scholarship costs.

It's no wonder, then, that we don't have men's soccer anymore.appst89 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 5:42 pmWe have 85 players on athletic scholarship. Being fully funded would only mean that athletic department funds are not being used to meet the scholarship costs.

Actually, you can blame title ix, in its current form, for that.NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 6:25 pmIt's no wonder, then, that we don't have men's soccer anymore.appst89 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 5:42 pmWe have 85 players on athletic scholarship. Do you not support equality of funding for educational opportunities for both men and women? If not that that seems pretty sexist.yosef69 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 7:31 pmActually, you can blame title ix, in its current form, for that.NewApp wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 6:25 pmIt's no wonder, then, that we don't have men's soccer anymore.

If you look through my post history, I’m pretty consistently on the left of most issues.BTK2000 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 23, 2020 7:36 pmDo you not support equality of funding for educational opportunities for both men and women? The issue with title ix is it doesn’t account for football. 85 schollys for a revenue sport that count for women’s scholarships, therefore decreasing the number of men’s scholarships available 100 percent due to a revenue sport.
The sentiment behind title ix is good, but to say that it hasn’t had negative consequences would be naive.
