Christan Horn?

We heard about this rising star all off season. Maybe I have missed him, but has he seen the field yet? Without Sutton, we were under the assumption he would slide into that role.

We have got to get some guys to take the pressure off Hennigan. Hennigan is an absolute stud, but at times Marshall had 3 guys around him. We have to take advantage of that and get some other guys to make plays.

GO APPS!!

Yep, we need a WR and fast. Virgil has track speed and can’t get open. Malik is a possession guy, and hennigan is our only guy that needs to be double covered right now.

Never saw Virgil into the 2nd half - did he get hurt?

I felt like 2 or 3 passes to Malik were way off the mark and coach Clark calling out Virgil in the post game presser was uncalled for, unless he truly just didn't get open except for the unbelievable TD...and he had the big end around...

Coach has called out Virgil last two weeks. If I remember correctly, last week the comment related to blocking.

Yep, that’s 2 weeks in a row. You can call people out without naming names...

Terrible post game presser. Calling out a player by name and not knowing why your top back didn’t dress.

Should have left it at “someone other than Thomas hennigan needs to make a play”

Man...I like all the points you all are making as if your reading my mind.

On the subject of Malik.....it seems he is always receiving off target throws.....I realize he is little smaller target but no excuse.....it's like if he ever gets a throw in stride he is so stunned he doesn't know what to do next.

With where we stand now....I think it is APPsolutely necessary to start introducing some of the young talent.....We are not very deep anymore and the way I see lot of starting positions should be up for grabs.

Yesterday's performance on offense made me think of Jake Delhomme and the Panthers with all the comeback pass routes. No crossing routes. Wondering if Zack is ok not the same guy from the past.

Been wondering about Horn myself. Looks like another freshman, Christian Wells, is getting a lot of playing time.

Accuracy is quickly becoming an issue. As is speed on the corner when trying to run

I had initially heard that Horn was not playing as much because we did not want to take Hennigan off the field, since they have same role, but I think we need to be more creative in that regard, if that is truly the reason. We could have slid Horn or Wells in that role of where Evans was for the TD. There are a lot of things that can be done to get Horn on the field.

I wish Sutton would opt back in, as many players are doing around CFB, but I'm sure there is other stuff going on besides Covid-19 keeping him out. A few names who those who see practice say we could see that may help us are Wells, Davis, and Horn but I wonder what is going on with Jake Henry and Richard Tucker? I know Satt loved them both out of high school.

TE question. How does Eli Wilson and August Drews look? Could we see them? All accounts from high school was that Wilson was a stud that was a huge steal for us. Potential to bulk up and be a pass catching threat for us. Hopefully his development is coming along and we can see him.

We have to remember that this year does not count against eligibility so we don't have to save a redshirt for anyone.

Question for those who are very plugged in. I'm hearing that most of our seniors are coming back next year, including some names who we would suspect would pursue the NFL. Is anyone else hearing this as well? I was scared we would lose someone to opt out a couple weeks ago but none of them did after Sutton. I know it stings, it did for me as well, but this Marshall game could be a teaching moment for many and we could see positives really come out of this.

I have not watched a replay (does anyone have a link???) so I cannot definitively attribute the inaccuracy from the stats but Marshall had 8 QB hurries on 38 attempts meaning ZT was hurried on 21% (1 of 5) of his throws.

For comparison sake, against UNCC this season ZT was hurried 0 times on 21 attempts. Going back to 2019:
UNCC 3 hurries on 31 attempts
UNC 2 hur on 29 att
CCU 2 hur on 23 att
ULL (1) 0 hur on 17 att
ULM 2 hur on 30 att
USA 5 hr on 28 att
GS 2 hur on 21 att
USC 0 hur on 15 att
GSU 1 hur on 31 att
TXST 0 hur on 16 att
Troy 0 hur on 34 att
ULL (2) 1 hur on 17 att
UAB 0 hur on 24 att

So for 2019, a total of 18 QB hurries in 14 games and it took the first 3 games of last season to have as many QB hurries as Marshall got in 1 game. Marshall took full advantage of the off week and had a great defensive game plan to get to ZT. This offense needs great blocking from the TE/H-back position to be successful and timely incorporated screens to counteract the pressure. The App offense failed to adjust.
