I see Huesman and Gibbs as the 20 backups and I see them on the sidelines, but who do you see as the 21 QB? Anyone hear anything about that dual threat QB freshman from last yr?

Off topic but radio guys said Cole Garrison was accepted to medical school at UAB. First off congratulations to him and secondly would he be eligible to play for them next year since this is a "throwaway " year.

This would be great. Is there known info or just assumptions with his return?

ZT, Huesman (if he returns), then DC Tabscott would be my predicted 3 deep QB chart for next year assuming ZT returns.

I personally think this should be ZT's last year as our QB. If he wants to play another year of college maybe it will come as a grad transfer. I love ZT and he has taken us to newer heights, but if he stays I believe we will lose Schuler, Tabscott, and DBG. Just my two cents.

Not to ask a dumb Q, but I take it that ZT has another yr? Would love that

Didnt want to drive away DBG. Didnt see him anywhere on the sideline?

He opted out of the season. I suspect he won't be back, doesn't matter what Zac does.

I too hope we make it to the year 2021.

The NCAA announced that this year isn't going to count as a year of eligibility

Every player has another year - this year doesn't count toward eligibility

IMO, we have already lost DBG. He opted out and is not injured. it could just be that he is concerned for safety related to Covid which is fine. However, my hunch is that this is not the case. Unless NFL draft type QBs at other programs leave for NFL, there may be many QBs out there that stay another year. Although Shuler and Tabscott may see folks recruiting them to leave as it happens behind the scenes all the time, however, there may not be many programs where they can walk in and be guaranteed to be the starter. Personally, I believe Shuler may be an unknown and work in progress. Is he even 3rd on depth chart. For Tabscott, until he actually signs in December, he is not actually in the competition. In addition, coming in as a true freshmen to start can be difficult anyway. If he does show up, gets a year to redshirt and learn from Zac and other older guys, it could be good for him. In addition, if Shuler or some other QB plays well while Tabscott matures into the offense, he may not unseat the incumbent as some coaches have mentality "if it is working, do not change it". If I am Tabscott, I am hoping Thomas comes back. I can have redshirt year, learn the offense and get used to speed of college game. This give me more of a level playing field with other vets

I highly doubt we see DBG in black and gold next season. Shuler already passed him on the depth chart -- before he opted out.

Shuler can make every throw, but still has to catch up to the college game.

I'm really interested in Tabscott. His tape looks very good. But again, college game is way different than high school so it's a matter of how he adapts.

Don't be surprised if enough of the team comes back if ZT decides to come back too. Especially after that Marshall loss. The leaders feels like they have more to prove.

Huesman will have the seniority but if he’s the best option we have next year then I’m afraid we’ll be hurting. He’s a decent backup and that feels like his ceiling

I think we are doing ourselves a major disservice by not giving DBG a chance. He may leave or may not. Not giving the *Highest rated recruit in school history* a chance to compete with other less athletic QBs is what holds teams back imo

This may be a Dumb question also, but would a player like Corey Sutton get two years of eligibility? If this year is just a “throwaway” then shouldn’t they get an extra year above the players who actually play this year.

Sutton already sat out a year after transferring and Zac redshirted one year. I just wonder how long some of these guys actually want to stay in school. You start talking 6 years for some guys. Some may just want to move on with their lives beyond college.

I for one tried to stay at App as long as possible. This working life sucks compared to college.
