Early Season Thought
Just looked at both the AP and Coaches Polls, Louisiana is #23 in both polls. Others receiving votes I noticed are Coastal Carolina and Liberty. App is nowhere in sight and rightfully so. Although we're 2-1, the two teams we have beaten have a combined record of 0-6. Hopefully we are able to play next week against The Stink and we show up to compete. Needless to say this season has started out extremely slow considering all the talent we have, time to kick it into gear!! Just a thought. Peace

Re: Early Season Thought
Anyone have an idea of when we can resume practice? Don’t know if I can take another week of no App football...

Re: Early Season Thought
My early season thought: This season is a disaster. COVID on the team, no fans in the stands, the Marshall loss, AND basically silence on Yosef's Cabin. I can't remember, and can't imagine an October this bad for App football.

I think it’s be best to push this game back as well. We have too many players and staff out. Let’s worry about the health and safety of the ones affected.

Coastal has beat teams with a combined record of 1-9. We beat Campbell by 9 more points than they did. They are improving, but I'm not concerned that they are getting votes in this crazy season.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 7:14 amJust looked at both the AP and Coaches Polls, Louisiana is #23 in both polls. Yes, we lost to Marshall in a game that we could have won, despite being lethargic. Yes, we've lost all of the momentum from the end of last year. Season 2.0 will kick off again in a few weeks, if we can get past the COVID virus

Edit: the tweet was deleted as Ethan Joyce was notified the meeting is between DG and Clark to see if they can still play the game.

Thanks! I just saw and read Ethan’s article in the meantime... Not too promising for the 14th, but anxious to see what Coach and DG come up with...

Dang COVID has ruined literally everything. I can’t imagine trying to coach your first year as head coach with all this mess. I also can’t imagine trying to prepare for ga so with not having been able to practice. What a year !

Re: Early Season Thought
Yet guys on here are absolutely worried to death about the rankings. Some schools will maybe get in 11 games, some 8, some 7. We can’t practice consistently, have players and coaches out in quarantine and we played a freaking game in an empty stadium with over 20 players. We had to go way down the depth chart. Yet guys are worried about rankings that are ridiculous right now. Personally I give the entire season about a 10% chance of completing.mountaineerman wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 12:49 pmDang COVID has ruined literally everything. We've already played three more games than I thought we would. Strange year indeed.

Re: Early Season Thought
This season is a crazy one on SO MANY levels! Regarding the Coastal record though, that Arkansas State team's only other loss was a close one to Memphis (last year's G5 representative to the Cotton Bowl). Certainly not time to panic but this is not the year to sleep on ANYONE! Georgia State is looking strong as well. App will be fine if we can get healthy and play App football.WASU 93 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 12:06 pmCoastal has beat teams with a combined record of 1-9. Re: Early Season Thought
The more this season progresses, it appears, the more disruptions most teams will encounter. If we do bad or good it cannot truly be measured against a regular season. Also, since Cincinnati is already on the fast track for NY6, we may not have even been in a position for NY6 regardless. I am starting to just reconcile myself to the fact that in the long run this is a throw away season. The upside is it will allow Clark and Co to get the house in order for a strong run in future seasons.

Re: Early Season Thought
Regardless of what some may think and speaking for myself I'm not worried about the rankings. However, with Louisiana at #24 and Postal Carolina receiving votes, it would be nice to take them down, just a little more added motiviation. At the end of the day, like you I'm starting to admit this is going to be a throw away season. However, if and when we start playing games again we need to do a much better than what has been shown thus far.AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 2:57 pmThe more this season progresses, it appears, the more disruptions most teams will encounter. From the Sun Belt:
"The SBC announced today that the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Football Championship Game will be played on Saturday, December 19. The game will be broadcast on ESPN or ESPN2 and a time for the game will be announced at a later date.
The football championship game, previously scheduled for December 5, will feature the East Division and West Division champions."

Re: Early Season Thought
I agree that we can't sleep on anyone. The Sun Belt is improving as a whole. I'm just not at a point where in Week 4 (or is it 6), I am concerned with those programs getting votes. Coastal has done what they need to do and good for them. But, it's not like we are 0-2.
