Exactly. If CCU and UL keep winning then we will have 2 wins over top 25 teams. That is something that our 2018 and 2019 squads could not claim. Hopefully we keep getting better and can pull off those wins.

Re: Top 25 Poll
This year we are having a problem with leaving points on the field in every game we've played, whereas last year that wasn't a problem. First drive of the season, fumbled going into the end zone. Along with drive altering penalties, that bit us in the ass at Marshall in game 2, didn't it? Changed the complexion of the game... 3 points before half time going to the well with one more pass to Hennigan. And of course, the strip at Marshall too, Oh yea, and the missed field goal in the second half. Campbell didn't matter after we woke up some in the second half. First half against Arky, we left 2 scores on the field, should have had 30 some points. Another first drive give away odd interception at ULM. Got to clean this up.

Re: Top 25 Poll
This stuff you mention is why people need to forget about the top 25 for now. Teams who deserve attention are winning big and not making those mistakes at key points. I believe CCU is a little high but they are still good and deserve to be ranked at this point. They make less mistakes than we do and are putting people away early. My question for CCU is their depth up front on the lines an overall on defense.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 12:50 pmThis year we are having a problem with leaving points on the field in every game we've played, whereas last year that wasn't a problem. Re: Top 25 Poll
Missed field goals have become a trend with us this year. We missed (blocked but same outcome) one against UNCC, one against Marshall, and one against ULM. In defense, we did make the lone attempts against Campbell and Ark State and made one against ULM also but a 50% field goal kicker is not good. The missed scoring opportunities, whether by turnovers (multiple fumbles at or near the goal line, interceptions in the red zone) or missed field goals, has been an extremely frustrating thing to watch this year. We all know that our team has the talent to play better but for whatever reason we have yet to see that in any consistent way this year. We have nearly surpassed our total turnovers from last season and we have only played 5 games. Zac has already thrown 4 interceptions in 118 attempts compared to 6 last year in 359 attempts and we have lost 4 of the 8 fumbles in 5 games compared to losing 3 of 9 fumbles in the 14 games we played last year. The sloppy play has already cost us one game against an inferior opponent, hopefully it gets fixed before it costs us anymore loses.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Wed Nov 04, 2020 12:50 pmThis year we are having a problem with leaving points on the field in every game we've played, whereas last year that wasn't a problem. Re: Top 25 Poll
I think Wells emerging to add back the deep threat that we lost will really help our offensive effectiveness down the stretch.

Re: Top 25 Poll
Has an explanation on the 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty on a non player been given? I figure if it was a coach, the referee would’ve said it was on a coach, but maybe not.

Re: Top 25 Poll
Liberty has some talent and have done a good job with transfers. I think Liberty would beat us right now. We are nowhere near a top 40 team in terms of how we are playing. They should beat WCU and UMASS but have two tests against NC State and CCU. It would not shock me if they lose 2 more or go undefeated. They deserve to be ranked in the top 25 right now.

Re: Top 25 Poll
Texas St has not done a good job with transfers. Seemed like the announcers had a long list of players they mentioned as being transfers, but they aren't a very good team. Coastal has some and is a good team? Does APP have 1 transfer?AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:34 pmLiberty has some talent and have done a good job with transfers. Re: Top 25 Poll
Sutton, Crosby, Pinkney, Gibbs, Roof to name some off top of head. Sutton has been sensational... Sitting out this year. We will see what Pinkney has next year. Roof is playing some D and special teams. Not sure about others. I am sure there are others. I somewhat disagree on TX. St. If announcers were naming the players yesterday, they were playing. That translates to do good with transfers. The transfers are just playing on a not so good overall team. IMO

Thanks, I knew he opted out, but wasn't sure if he was going the way of Duck or the injury or what. I've been in my basement too long.Appstate88 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 9:43 amPublic since 1 September.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 9:33 amWhat happened to Sutton, did he not recover from his injury? Re: Top 25 Poll
We have a few but they are all role players. Walliser from Clemson is a backup and we have the TEs from Lenoir-Rhyne and South Alabama who backup Pearson but have played a lot. It looks like both are out now though. We definitely don't bring in transfers the way Texas State and Liberty do.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 8:35 amTexas St has not done a good job with transfers. Re: Top 25 Poll
Coastal and Marshall hold at #15 & #16 respectively. The Cajuns re-enter the Top 25.
Voters make it clear that an undefeated Cincinnati, despite crushing Houston, will not be invited to the CFP. They fell 1 spot.
App with one less vote than week prior.

Re: Top 25 Poll
Your post really made me think. I don't think Cincinnati or BYU should be considered for the CFP. I don't think either is in a league with the Alabamas, Ohio States, Notre Dames, or Clemsons. I'm not sure how they'd do against Florida or TAMU. But I think there should be a way (if they both go undefeated) to be in NY6 bowl games (and shouldn't have to play each other).ah59396 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 08, 2020 2:13 pmCoastal and Marshall hold at #15 & #16 respectively.
