Re: Appalachian vs. Texas St Game Thread (and gameday menu thread)
I know we all want more, but a road conference win especially when you have to visit two of the worst teams in the conference back to back is a good thing. Both of those were trap games and we comfortably made it through. Just a reminder we held them to their second lowest point total of the year and the lowest in San Marcos. They hung 24 on SMU in what was only a 7 point loss for them and 34 on ULL just last week in a 10 point game. TXST is not good, but we handled them(only BYU has beaten them by a wider margin). We have our warts but we will consistently get every Sun Belt teams best shot. Now we move on to the ever dangerous GaSt Panthers. Go. Fight. Kick Ass!

We had 2 more total yards than they did. Not a great performance by the D. We also gave up 215 yards on the ground.

The tools? Yes, absolutely. Whether we use them properly, thats another matter.dtrain4prez wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:23 pmReal question...do we feel like we have the tools to beat Coastal in 2 weeks?

Still not sharp. I know we won, but it feels weird. We are so much better than the last two weeks. Strange year...........

We are vanilla most of the time but yes we do sprinkle 1-2 plays like that a game. It would be nice to be creative a lot more. We do make a lot of mistakes as well. There are way too many penalties. I know Shawn has to be upset with that. I would bet there is a huge emphasis on it this week. We better correct a lot of that before November 21. We are way better than we are playing.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:41 pmWe passed to a DL...AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:39 pmI am hoping we are just hiding things to keep CCU from knowing what we have but part of me just thinks maybe we have other issues. I know the injury bug has gotten us at times but we are mostly healthy now. If we don't play better and open things up more we will lose bad at CCU. I'm frustrated because I know we have the talent to do better. We just aren't doing better. If we play to our potential then CCU will go down but if we play like this then we will lose by double digits.dtrain4prez wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 5:23 pmReal question...do we feel like we have the tools to beat Coastal in 2 weeks?

Clark made a comment at halftime that he had spoken to Peterson (OC) about opening up the play calling. Thus, it appears he may be aware of the situation and is ready to take action.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 6:50 pmWe are vanilla most of the time but yes we do sprinkle 1-2 plays like that a game. Well that's encouraging, hope to see the fruits of that next week.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 7:05 pm

This was a trap game. Not pretty. End result - We won! Hope #4 is Ok. We are now 6-0 all time against Bobcats. Teams give us everything they got when a group of Juniors and Seniors have never beaten you. I expect nothing less from the next two opponents. Stay focused App.

Re: Appalachian vs. Texas St Game Thread (and gameday menu thread)
Alot of negatively...lacking perspective. We are 5-1. Lost to a very good Marshall team in a 'rivalry' game by 10 when down 18 players. I would say it was very comparable...perhaps a better loss than ones we've had in recent years.
We beat Charlotte by the same margin as last year...but with better defense. We beat Campbells best team in their history by 31. We far exceeded expectations in demolishing Arkansas State and we broke their spirit in a game that I believe will viewed in the future as the moment their program entered back into the depths it once was. We beat ULM on the road by 18 and we beat Texas State on the road by 21...in what I think is fair to say....the best Texas State team we've ever played.
This team is on pace to accomplish all of its goals.

Re: Appalachian vs. Texas St Game Thread (and gameday menu thread)
Business trip with a business like win. We play lots of guys and it’s nice to see other guys stepping up and making plays, that’s depth and that why we have a history of winning late in the season consistently. I get upset like everyone else with the penalties and other things but we were always in control today. Seemed like we used or featured the TE’s more today which will only give future opponents more to think about. The meat of the schedule is coming and I for one like our chances. Just keep doing your thing Mountaineers.

Like Ron Rivera? You mean the one who took the Panthers to a Super Bowl

Re: Appalachian vs. Texas St Game Thread (and gameday menu thread)
This is still a crazy, throw away season in many respects. Some schools have 3 games left and some are playing game 1 today. Wisconsin has played 1 game. Games are getting canceled. I had my share of negative comments today but after reading a very good “proper perspective “ post I just feel good that we are even playing. We are still 5-1. I saw a few shots of the fans today. Their team came in 1-7 but I saw smiles and happy faces. If we were a perennial cellar dweller in the Belt what would it be like in our world?

Need to get all the small (hoepfully) injuries healed up. Do we sit a lot of people for Ga St?
