Re: “We are Marshall”
I remember the crash. Even today it's inconceivable that it actually happened. It's just a shame that College Game Day is at a golf event (even if it is the Masters) instead of Marshall. As much of a rival as ASU and Marshall were during the SoCon days it's fitting that for a few hours we're all Marshall fans.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

The Evansville basketball team's plane crash in the fog was also saddening. Killed about 30 passengers i seem to remember. Makes it fairly easy to understand Armanti Edwards' once fear of flying.

This tragedy will always be with me - we were actually back in WVA visiting my parents when I heard it on the radio - as I have mentioned, my high school coach was a member of the Herd coaching staff then and was on the plane -
I think GameDay has a segment scheduled about Marshall

GameDay should be in Huntington. Someone really dropped the ball at ESPN.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 10:18 amThis tragedy will always be with me - we were actually back in WVA visiting my parents when I heard it on the radio - as I have mentioned, my high school coach was a member of the Herd coaching staff then and was on the plane -

ASU connection to the aftermath: alumnus student athletic trainer aide Vic Winburn became their athletic trainer. I believe he resides in Hickory now.

Re: “We are Marshall”
so glad to see all these posts. My heart aches for that community still. The movie was good. The segment ESPN aired on game day got me right in the feels. I knew it would before it started.
If you didn't hear, last night Marshall gave diplomas to all the students on the flight who died. Classy move to show they will not be forgotten, even 50 years later.

Agreed. ESPN GameDay fumbled in their own endzone on this one. Love the Masters, but.. No Brainer that they should e in Huntington today.

Re: “We are Marshall”
ESPN is nothing but chasing the most recent shiny ball these days. Tiger woods shooting a 68 is not a bigger story than this.ah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 14, 2020 10:21 amGameDay should be in Huntington. Re: “We are Marshall”
This is exactly why I root for Marshall. They are a fierce rival but their fans are every bit as Passionate as ours and they had to rebuild their program after this devastating tragedy. I respect them
