This was embarrassing. In our 3 losses we have been seriously out coached in the 2nd half. Not even close.

Because we have an OC that isn't fit to call plays for bobblehead popwarner football.... Clark has decisions that must be made this offseason... take over play calling himself - Fire Marshal and hire a ST coachah59396 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:11 amYou’re not sure why? Re: Louisiana at APP Game Day Thread
What a disappointing season this has been. I know that some blame COVID but I don't. We played a full season of football and we just didn't play up to our standard and that is reflected in our record. I know that most schools would love to be 7-3 but WE all know that we expect more. It is really hard to believe that our current coaching staff can return us to our rightful place as conference champions. Don't misread me, I AM NOT calling for Clark to lose his job. I AM willing to wait some time to see if Clark can develop into a great coach (probably only because he is an App guy because if Drink did this I would have wanted to tar and feather him) but I have zero faith in our current offensive coordinator, in fact I find him offensive (pun intended). I usually like coaching stability and don't like changes but in this case I really hope Clark finds a new OC. We clearly need to make some changes and I really hope that the powers that be realize that and make the appropriate changes. This has been a really hard season, as a fan, to watch as we just haven't played App State football.

Glad someone else besides me isn’t excited about participation trophies. Eff that noise, there are no moral victories or justifications. We just plain weren’t a team this year.

I think you saw the difference between a tenored coach like Napier and a young coach like Clark tonight.App91 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:15 amMaybe too soon after a loss, but this is a lost season. too many coaching blunders, an offense with returning starters that was anemic. struggled with the middle of the pack and lost to the top. Not app football. SC needs to look in the mirror, i believe this falls on coaching. Rookie HC's make mistakes but it MUST get better. Stupid ass TO at the end of the first half maybe changes this. Why is this kicker in this place based on season performance? I guess this is what we deal with at the G5 level, maybe we are spoiled but i am not willing to settle.
With absolutely nothing to play for next week, that will be a spotlight on this staff and how we perform at the stink. I am not confident.
Clark, a players coach who has a personal connection with his players, left a QB in that had trouble connecting on passes and left the game on the leg of a kicker that is notoriously not clutch.
Napier took the game away from a long snapper that was under performing. He was willing to choose the team over the player, despite hurt feelings.
And the results stand for themselves.

Re: Louisiana at APP Game Day Thread
It’s flat out embarrassing that our 3 losses could have easily been wins but for poor QB and special teams play from players who are seniors.
Even worse is the fact that these were on national TV. It drives me crazy that Coastal has gotten more praise this season than App has had in prior seasons such as last year that included 2 power 5 wins and Coastal is a glorified community college.

Re: Louisiana at APP Game Day Thread
That one hurt. They were basically giving us the game and we just kept giving it back. We can’t continue to let teams stick around like we have. When we are gifted opportunities, we have to take advantage. We all knew the streak was going to end at some point, just hurts when it does.
Time to move on to hate week. Let’s take all of our aggression/frustration/anger out on the iggles. This is the year of streaks being broken, so let’s break the one we have.

Time to move on.
For clarity, at qb. Not you.

I agree, we never use our tight endsTbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:09 amNot sure why we did not pass more all night. Middle of field open all night evidently. That is play calling.

I know we haven’t played as well lately but i do think not having a normal crowd this year has had an effect. Players respond to fans getting behind them. A packed KBS has always been the 12th man.

Re: Louisiana at APP Game Day Thread
I’m not either. Dale Jones is at least familiar with the triple option, but we could see lots of different looks with a new OC down there.App91 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 12:15 amMaybe too soon after a loss, but this is a lost season. too many coaching blunders, an offense with returning starters that was anemic. struggled with the middle of the pack and lost to the top. Re: Louisiana at APP Game Day Thread
Poor pursuit angles by our defense all night. All night. The dropped pass early when we were rolling and the poor kick before the half that led to the field goal and momentum shift were huge. Overall though their QB outplayed ours by a substantial margin. That was the difference, in all three of our losses, but especially these last two.

Well, if I had to pick a season to break in a third head coach in 3 years this would be it. I’m trying to view this as a practice season for Coach Clark. There may not have even been a bowl game for us even if we had a great year. Beat Stink at least, please.
