Sadly, I never had this issue on the old Delphi board and I really think we had more traffic on that one but I could be wrong.

If you want to chip in and buy the cabin its own super server then we could have all the traffic we want. You could make a sweet looking server and house it in a waist high moonshine jug with a good fan at the top and one in the rear to make some killer airflow. Give the outside a Yosef cabin makeover. Anyone starting a GoFundMe?
I'm not sure if they are paying for X amount of space on someone else's or if the site owners have their own server. Maybe grab a few xeon servers.

There's a message board called Debatepolitics which has thousands of posts per week which never out runs its resource limits.

I've actually offered a server in the past and was told it wasn't doing anything other than unnecessarily getting a rise out of people. I have no idea how much Yosef pays for the server, but it clearly needs more resources and/or to be optimized.

Not sure if anyone has answered the question as to why resource limit is so easily reached. 500 people on a site sounds like a low amount of folks this day and time
