Sunbelt representing today!!!!!!
Coastal beating a "legit" in the cfp's eye and Georgia Southern putting a beating on 5-1 conference-usa FAU.

Indeed. FWIW, these real time rankings have the Belt between the ACC and AAC. Not sure if it would hold up in court, but it sure looks good.

Re: Sunbelt representing today!!!!!!
Our conference mates have done a very good job this year of representing the conference and beating non conference opponents. Somewhat ironic that it comes in a year in which the perennial power of the Sun Belt (since we joined at least) has laid an egg against our out conference opponents and the good teams within our conference.

Overall agree with your comments. However, one does not work without the other. If we had beaten ULL, that would have been 2 losses for them and they would not sniff the top 25. If we beat CC, puts us ahead of them in Sunbelt standings and us potentially in top 25. Also wonder if we best CC, would BYU have been as enticed to fly cross-country to play a 1 loss team versus the undefeated match-up.t4pizza wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:20 amOur conference mates have done a very good job this year of representing the conference and beating non conference opponents. Separate but related, Overall glad BYU decided to play. In my opinion, it was more downside risk versus upside for them. If they stay idle and not played, they stay ahead of CC in rankings and only need Cincy to lose to get a potentially better bowl given their (what would have been undefeated record) record. CC would have never passed them in the polls as BYU past has more cache than CC. It was great for college football and glad BYU traveled to play. Get respect. Congrats to CC, they took care of business. I am impressed by their QB. He has bright future.

But BYU isn't eligible for the G5 auto bid, so Cincy losing likely wouldn't have been enough. They can only get in as an at-large, so they took the game in an effort to address the criticism about their schedule strength.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 07, 2020 11:42 amOverall agree with your comments. Re: Sunbelt representing today!!!!!!
Prior to the game, the odds I saw projected BYU as having a 47% chance of making the playoffs IF they won out, which obviously no longer applies. It only gave CCU a 3% chance if they won out. I am interested to see how much those might have changed.

Fk 'em all. We threw them a bone in 2020 and let a couple teams who never beat us before take a W. How about 2020's almost over and we go back to curb stomping the conference and making them all look inferior again. Enjoy that " * " year, suckers.
