A crazy discussion Topic

Unread post by WASU 93 » Fri Dec 18, 2020 5:28 pm

Florida State became the latest school to decide to shut down it's season. Jerry Palm had them projected to play Liberty in the Gasparilla Bowl.

Other schools could come down with issues that are scheduled to play later. Coastal's issues could continue

ESPN needs programming

So,,,,,,,,is there any chance that a team could play two bowls and fill one of the spots after Christmas or New Year's

I would say that would be a huge advantage for a young team or a new coaching staff. In years past lots have been said about the importance of getting those six wins and getting to a bowl so that you get 12 additional practices.

It would help Peoples to get 1K yards! :-D

P.S. Calling this topic "crazy" is redundant in 2020!

Interesting discussion. I like the thinking out of the box. Would be extra cool win or lose.

Which team/conf is most likely to tap out or not be able to compete? Entire Pac12 comes to mind and Michigan right off the bat.

Love the creativity here but I just don't see it happening. What happens if this scenario came true, then one team has players test positive for COVID before the bowl?

Unless the players are begging for it then I'll pass. They have already sacrificed so much for so long. I'd much rather have the boys crush it for one bowl game then go be with their families.

How is this scenario different from any other game? Any game scheduled has risk of cancelation due to covid at anytime.. If bowl game wants to continue to happen and needs an opponent, call App
St. 😂

Penn State, Southern Cal and others opt out

From the last Jerry Palm article before today's announcements:

"Penn State, USC and Arizona State opted out of bowls Saturday, bringing the total number of such teams to 16. The Pac-12, which only has four bowls left after several cancellations, will not be able to fill them. The league only has three teams that are eligible and willing to participate. On top of that, the MAC is only allowing its top two teams to go to bowls, so the number of teams available for these games may mean some bowls have to be canceled for an inability to put together a matchup."

Could we possibly be the first team in college football history to play in two bowls in one season? Crazy

I doubt this occurs, however, I agree about the expenses.

It would need to be a later bowl to give us time and prep to play. It is "Out of the box" thinking; which might be a good thing.
