Re: Zac Gone
Robbie Price from the Brakefield days should also be mentioned. He was QB when we beat South Carolina, Wake Forest, and East Carolina in the same season (1975) with us barely coming out of NAIA and barely enough scholarships to be eligible to compete in the SoCon.

Re: Zac Gone
That proves my point. He had a below average arm. AE would have more than held his own in the sbcNewApp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 6:50 pmHe set records for passing.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 6:34 pmI disagree. Taylor Lamb had zero arm strength and was in there

Re: Zac Gone
I agree with you Seattleapp. AE would hold his own in the SBC. The O-line we have now is a lot better than then. If CCU's McCall can run all over teams in the SBC, AE would have no trouble at all and even do better.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Sun Dec 27, 2020 11:38 pmThat proves my point. He had a below average arm. Re: Zac Gone
AE would dominate the SBC today . Robbie Price was "the best quarterback on the East Coast" according to the Associated Press in 76.

Re: Zac Gone
Drew Brees is also a small QB....very small for the NFL. He is the exception to the rule that I have heard brought up in this conversation before. My personal opinion is that AE COULD have played in the NFL at QB but we will unfortunately never know.

Re: Zac Gone
I still hate Fox never gave him a shot just to see what he could do. Hell, I could have done better than Clausen. That season was already down the drain, AE should have been given a quarter or 2 to give it a go.

Re: Zac Gone
Armanti put up with that BS gracefully, at least publicly. I mean to have Pickles run around in confusion must have been tough for him to watch. It has taken a completely new regime for me to appreciate the Panthers again after the way they treated AE.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 12:26 pmI still hate Fox never gave him a shot just to see what he could do. Re: Zac Gone
Did Armanti have chances in practice to show what he could do at QB?

Re: Zac Gone
The '20 criticism of ZT has been unfair. His "regression" had more to do with the talent loss than him personally. You could argue he lost our best RB ever, our best WR ever and our best OC ever from '19 to '20.
* please note, I said, "you could argue"...the point is, he had Evans, Sutton and Drink last year, and each of them are going to be on everyone's Top 2-4 list in their positions. ZT's stats would have been vulnerable if he had lost anyone of them, but to lose all 3; he's been fantastic and we miss him already!

Re: Zac Gone
I do agree that losing them was tough and having an OC that didn’t put him into good scenarios , but looking at his passes this year showed me his regression. He would throw it into double and sometimes triple coverage. He held onto the ball too long and took some costly sacks. Under threw/over threw receivers. I still believe the interception he threw against coastal(was it the 2nd one) when we had a TE wide open for the first down was the biggest costly mistake of that game. All in all, he’s still one of the top qbs we ever had and he will be missed.Boone Goon wrote: ↑Mon Dec 28, 2020 2:49 pmThe '20 criticism of ZT has been unfair. So what. He was tough as nails while a qb here. Delivering as good as he got. Breese weighs 205 now.

Re: Zac Gone
I’ll never forget the hit he laid on a defensive lineman at the citadel in 07. Armanti had pitched it and was leading the charge, lowered his head, and put that lineman flat on his ass. Armanti may had been 180 soaking wet, but that man played with so much passion and heart, it added 30 or more pounds to him.Seattleapp wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 2:51 pmSo what.
