I'm pretty sure it was September 26th, 2009. The only video I could find on Youtube was a random dude filming the team running out but it was definitely wet.Rick83 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:35 amI remember that play which was incredible...I believe it was also raining?Deano wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:27 amGuys, guys. guys are we forgetting Satterfield as QB? He led our team 1995 to an almost perfect season only losing to winless VMI if my memory serves me.....Just joking as a QB he was ok.
But as far as the best player to every play for APP, all you had to see in person was the play Armanti made against Samford, when he took the snap, scramble to his right, fumbled the ball twice, picked the ball up, eluded 4 defenders and threw the ball just as he was getting tackled to a receiver for a first down. It was amazing. Greatest individual effort I've ever seen.

Watching Lamar Jackson play ball is the closest I’ve ever seen to anyone resembling Armanti’s athletic abilities on a football field. Lamar wears #14 undies.

I still say that AE has the greatest individual performance that I saw in person when we played Richmond in the 2007 playoffs. 313 yards rushing and approximately 190 yards passing to advance the Mountaineers to the National Championship game.

Re: Zac Gone
The best thing about that clip is Armanti...next best thing...David Jackson calling the play on the radio. I was reminded that AE was LEFT HANDED too. I had forgotten that for some reason.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:51 amHere it is.Rick83 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:35 amI remember that play which was incredible...I believe it was also raining?Deano wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 10:27 amGuys, guys. guys are we forgetting Satterfield as QB? AE is our GOAT. I have watched App State football since 1974. I've never seen anyone in Mountaineer Black and Gold who can match him.
Re: Zac Gone
Georgia stinking Southern game in KBS. AE throws an interception, GS headed for south end zone with 1 blocker and the end zone wide open. 14 is coming across west to east slobber knocks and I mean slobber knocks the blocker into runner they both end up out of bounds!!!appstate77 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 8:09 pmAE is our GOAT. Don’t remember year or if the stinkers scored after that but KBS went wild.

It was 2009. I remember the hit. It was as if Armanti was saying "You better think again about picking me off".

Re: Zac Gone
I think you can argue AE or Coakley for sure. Coakley would have some of his best games against our top competition and won a ton of awards. Just to name the highlights he was the 1993 SoCon Freshman of the Year, 3-time SoCon DEF POY and 1st-team All-SoCon, 3-time All-American, and the first and only 2-time Buck Buchanan Award Winner. He is still the all-time tackles leader for App State and I-AA/FCS. He went on to be drafted in the 3rd round, went to 3 Pro Bowls, and played for a decade in the NFL.appstate77 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 8:09 pmAE is our GOAT. I believe you can have 2 GOATS. One for offense and one for defense. Edwards and Coakley for me.

Re: Zac Gone
Hackett had the great single season for a defender in App history but Coakley had the greatest career. Of all 3 of those players, the NFL career backs up the statement that Coakley is the GOAT.Rekdiver wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 11:32 amI agree with AE. Something to keep in mind about AE and Coakley. About all of us agree, had AE come out in the last 4 years or so that he would have been given a fair shot at QB in the NFL. Coakley actually came about 18-19 years prior to NFL teams starting to take smaller LBs and still managed to be a top 100 pick, which is unheard of for a small school LB. There was bias against him and he went on to become NFC Defensive Rookie of the Year, play a decade, and go to 3 Pro Bowls before sitting out of them was popular to do to. I say that about sitting out because now I would equal 6 Pro Bowls to 3 when Coakley did it.

Dino's NFL career was hampered and cut short by his developing Meniere's Syndrome.
