Football gameday advice 2021

Unread post by yosef95 » Fri Dec 25, 2020 5:20 pm

Ok, so I graduated in 95. Things have changed. Taking my fam and kids (hopefully by then), to a game in the fall. Wanted to hit some good food spots, but hoping to avoid crazy busy gameday food spots. Is it crazy on King St nowadays gameday Sat mornings? I love Lost Province Pizza/Brewery place. Would gameday lunch be insanely busy there or during a game? What other newer food places could someone recommend. Thanks in advance.

If you want to avoid the King Street hustle and bustle, you might try BooneShine. Love the vibe. It’s adjacent to the App’s soccer stadium just off the New River.

Lost Province does get very crowded on game days. Honestly I think most places on King St do. Ransom (formerly Murphy’s) is usually a little easier to get a table. Black Cat I think is sometimes doable. You can probably get into Mellow Mushroom with not too bad of a wait if you time it right.

Portofino’s, Black Cat, Sabeing, ODB, and Boone Bagelry are places we frequent on or around King St.

Personally, I would go to downtown Boone to enjoy GameDay experience at its fullest. I am also 95 graduate from the graduate school program. We have been going to games since moving up to Sunbelt. To me, it is all part of what makes GameDay experience.

For a quick but tasty lunch, I second Saebing for Thai, but don’t underestimate a burger or hotdog and fries at Boone Drug King Street Fountain.

I ate at The Local before the Troy game. The wings were tasty, and the burger was one of the better ones I’ve had in Boone. All things being equal, I’d rather fix my own in my parking spot.

If things go back to normal, I also suggest the King Street experience. Go in the Mast General Store and fill a basket with penny candy. Try The Local for good food. Walk through the tailgates and I bet you’ll be offered a beer, wing, rib somewhere. Please try some of our local beers.
