Not that it belongs here, but some have been asking in this thread... Just saw that Ledford's name has been trimmed from Marshall's list of three. They're down to Lambert, and Alabama's RB coach. Not sure if it was Dwayne's decision or theirs.

I have no clue on the matter, but if I had to guess I would think Ivey might be one of those. Love Mark and his intensity.

I agree that I don't want him back. Just saying though that if I HAD to choose between incompetence and results that I would take the results. One of the observations made to me on Mike was that he knew who he could be himself around and was good with politics here.NavyApp wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 8:59 amOh no, you're good. I just didn't want to make an assumption. I'm with you on Mike, I have heard some things from a strength and conditioning professional(not on the staff nor has he ever been) very familiar with App and Mike. At this point I'm happy with what he accomplished and here and the fact he has taken his talents elsewhere.
On Ponce, knowing how good he did with Zac I am very excited about this. If he can get the best out of Brice, Shuler, and Tabscott I have to believe our expectations increase. I was expecting 4-5 losses but now it is 3, worst case, with Ponce tutoring Brice.

Re: new oc
Based on how it is going in Louisville, I would imagine that he would have taken Marshall's offer unless there is something really bad there. I hope they hire Lambert because their fan base is right. He is a good guy but not a good head coach who made some bad nepotism hires. I hope they hire him but if the AD is smart he will hire the Alabama coach for sure.booneboy92 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 11:30 amNot that it belongs here, but some have been asking in this thread... love love love the Ponce hire
Most underrated thing about his hire will be his recruiting abilities for the state of Florida

That’s a short sided response. Results are great but you are comparing it against the wrong dynamics. There were issues with him that were causing issues that just can’t be tolerated because of win/loss records.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:03 pmI agree that I don't want him back. With the team we have coming back, I am thinking worst case was 3 losses as worse case scenario before Ponce.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:03 pmI agree that I don't want him back. Re: new oc
Overall I do agree with that. I know he was a jerk to people and treated people in different departments very badly. Heard it directly from 3 folks. It is why people on his S&C staff would not stay long. We certainly could not entertain that behavior for long. I just mean that for short term I would put up with it if we ha to because we could not find anyone competent. I believe the current group is good and just had a rough hand dealt to them last off-season. Hopefully they have it under control and we can see more gains by August now.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 4:17 pmThat’s a short sided response. Re: new oc
I still don't know what to expect at QB so that is why I say that. Will we get the best from Brice and have a top 2 QB in the SBC or will he struggle and throw 10+ picks? If Brice plays like a top 2 QB in the league then I expect 2 losses in total. If he has a bad year and throws a lot of picks that he should not be then I would temper that and expect 4 or so. We do have a lot of talent coming back.Tbatchelor1977 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 4:50 pmWith the team we have coming back, I am thinking worst case was 3 losses as worse case scenario before Ponce.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:03 pmI agree that I don't want him back. Re: new oc
Unlike some of you I am not giving the QB job to Brice. I think there will be stiff competition with him, Tapscott and Shuler. The QB room should be very interesting this winter and spring.

Got to earn the job, regardless. Just want the better player under center, nothing to be disappointed about.

Re: new oc
He clearly said he was not giving the job to Brice and that he would have to earn it. The only way any of us should be concerned or disappointed is if the starter has a bad year with all the skill talent they will have. I don't want to hear any excuses because all of our QBs are on campus now, they have a lot of skill talent, and Ponce is a very good QB coach. As long as we just get solid play from the QB position we should be fine due to the talent around them.

Re: new oc
Exactly. The starter on opening day should only disappoint us if they just don't perform well and with the surrounding talent they should do fine. We have 3 potential draft picks among 2022 and 2023 classes (Sutton, Peoples, Hodges) and another 6 NFL prospects (Hennigan, maybe Virgil, Hunter, Pearson, Brice, and Harrington) plus future stars like Noel, Horn, Wells, and Daley all back. I'm sure we will see someone else breakout that I did not mention as well.WataugaMan wrote: ↑Sun Jan 17, 2021 12:37 pmGot to earn the job, regardless. Neither, I will be elated! I think T & S are very good, so if Ponce thinks B should start I’m ok.

Re: new oc
Both show potential. Where Brice stands out is that he is already used to the college game speed. I’m not concerned about Brice. He is a quality QB who was in charge of a sh!t show of an offense last year.

He's more than "a little hard to work with."AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 1:48 amThere are rumors that he is hard to work with but he does a great job and I know he is liked by players. I would rather have someone competent who does a great job that is a little hard to work with than someone who is the nicest person in the world who can't get the job done.

Re: new oc
If we want to discuss our former S&C guy, start a new thread.
I like the insights in this thread about Coach Ponce and the competition we will have at QB. Keep up the good work.
