EA College Football
We may finally get to play with our FBS Mountaineers inside beautiful KBS. Maybe TAFilms can do a drone flyover to include Howard's Knob that EA can convert and use for the pregame.
"EA Sports announced Tuesday that it is reviving its college football video game series, a beloved franchise that was discontinued in 2013 after EA and the NCAA were taken to court over the unpaid use of player likenesses.
EA Sports, which also makes the popular “Madden NFL” series, declined to share any timeline for the arrival of the next installment of the college football series..."

Re: EA College Football
They are not licensing through NCAA. They are going through CLC. App state is not a CLC client according to their website. We use affinity licensing. If they make a new college football game and App is not in it due to licensing that would be a huge blow to our reach and marketing. They better figure this one out

Re: EA College Football
I'll believe it when I see it...with more states, congress and the NCAA discussing allowing "Names & Likeness" policies for players I have hope but again, I'll believe it when I see it. This feels like just another tease.
EA should focus on the overengineered & bungled dumpster fire that Madden has become before they jump back into the CFB world again. If, like before, the CFB game is a reskinned copy of the current Madden it will be an instant failure.

I won’t get my hopes up. 1-2 year minimum if the politicians don’t get involved.

Re: EA College Football
I always liked the college version better than Madden because I liked using option plays.
It really stinks that the game died the year before App would have been added. Why couldn't they just make a college football game without player likenesses? I never understood that. It sounds like that is what they are finally doing this time around.
EA is a crap game publisher though. They will probably have 30 or so teams and a small assortment of plays ship with the base game, and make you pay extra to download additional teams and plays.

Re: EA College Football
I went to the CLC website and looked up how many FBS schools would be included under a CLC-only game -- 103 out of 130.Ncmtn wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 3:23 pmThey are not licensing through NCAA. Notable team NOT included: LSU, Ohio State, Georgia, Miami (FL) - in other words, if this game becomes a reality they will license the other 27 or it won't get made.
However, the Sun Belt board has a report that Affinity Licensing is an affiliate of CLC and all Sun Belt teams will be included.

I’m looking forward to this regardless. Madden has been a mess for years and the college football version was always light years ahead in my opinion. It’ll be a day 1 purchase for me.

Re: EA College Football
I was pretty upset it was cancelled just before App would have made the cut. To compound that frustration, ODU made it in!AppfaninCAALand wrote: ↑Tue Feb 02, 2021 10:49 pmIt really stinks that the game died the year before App would have been added. Agreed, not sure why they couldn't just make a generic college football game that users could edit. EA has had stadium and player edits when you could create your own school. Why not have generic teams like:
Blue Ridge Hillbillies
Sunshine State Crocs
South Beach Storks
Golden State Greeks
Old North State Sheep
Palmetto State Roosters
Great Lake Honey Badgers
Blue Grass Blue Jays
Creole Cats
Golden Catholics

Re: EA College Football
By the time this game comes out there might be a PS6.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: EA College Football
My best guess is 2-3 years minimum before it's released. I hope I'm wrong but if it is several years down the road, it'll probably only be released on the newest generation of consoles.

Re: EA College Football
My hunch would be next fall. Usually games are well into development before word of their existence leaks out. But if EA doesn't put out an official announcement within the next month or two than mid-'22 it is. I would guess a game of this sort has a pretty quick turnaround, particularly if they are just re-working the Madden engine.
They may still be releasing PS4/XBox 1 versions through '21 but a release any later about this time next year will be next gen only. Which is too bad, as I'm of the opinion the new consoles are too expensive to be worth the money. For the same price as a PS5, I can buy a new gaming PC with better processing capacity and which would have many more practical uses than simply playing games and running streaming apps.
