Spring Practice

First question- if Brice does win the job doesn’t he really have 2 seasons remaining if he chooses to play? Second question- are we ever going to trust our highly (somewhat at least) paid and experienced coaching staff to actually evaluate and play the best available QB on the roster? I’m sure old threads regarding QB gripes could be dug up. Third question- as pointed out above this is only Spring practice so isn’t it a just a bit premature to get all worked up over who should be the QB? I’m just ecstatic to even see that Spring practice is going on. When I read the notes from the first day and saw the names mentioned I got pumped up.

If our staff absolutely whiffs on the QB, plays a guy who stinks and we lose games because of this I will be beyond shocked and dismayed. For the life of me I can’t recall the last game we lost due solely to QB play.

Not disagreeing with anything in this post, but the last time we lost a game solely do to QB play was CCU 2020.

Last time I checked, it was a team game. Our defense had the opportunity to make a stop after the first interception and gave up a TD. If we hold them to a FG, it's 23-23. QB play could have been better down the stretch. We also could have suited up our kickoff specialist and could have tackled better in the secondary.

As soon as I typed that last question my first thought was the Coastal game. Zac could and should have played better but personally I don’t put the loss on him. Like in most games, particularly losses we only remember a few bad plays (usually by the QB) but we forget the seemingly insignificant plays that also affected the outcome. Missed tackles, dropped passes, etc.

So on the main appstatesports site it shows #1 making a catch - since there isn't a #1 on the current roster listing I am guessing it is one of the freshmen WRs - Also on the twitter feed it shows #7 passing the ball - anyone know if that is Brice or Tabscott?

Pretty sure Brice is #7.

Love Ethan’s reporting. Pretty good stuff. The thing that was intriguing to me was what he didn’t say. Most notably about the QB competition.
