Re: Should be new Yosef/App logo
We have to stop changing these things....traditions are, well traditional...when’s the last time Duke changed that “D” or Michigan changed that “M” or Clemson went with an actual tiger and not that paw print....you don’t build brand recognition by constantly changing the brand and in today’s market place we really need brand recognition

Re: Should be new Yosef/App logo
Mountaineer Mania Yosef should definitely become an alternate. It was THE Yosef for a generation of App students in the 80s.
I don't see a need to replace Victory Yosef, but this Yosef could definitely supplement it. Most schools have plenty of throwback logos they embrace, but our university's licensing people have seemingly banned any throwbacks. Only the Block A (both black and white) and Victory Yosef are allowed.

I love the MM Yosef. Yeah, it's 80's. But young people are big into anything 1980's right now. So I think it's legit these days.

Pick something and stick with it. App's current "Vintage" logo and block A's are pretty solid. Branding is very important for recognition over the long haul. We are fortunate that that there are only 2 major colleges that use the Mountaineer mascot, so take full advantage of it.

Agreed. Always keep the pipe! Besides it’s a new age, everybody knows it ain’t tobacco he’s packing in there!CornCobPipes wrote: ↑Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:40 pmIn dig the anger face but too Brutus for me however better than the Gorton's fisherman however I did like the mountain range tail on that one.

Call me a traditions guy. I was one of a group of five guys who led the fight to put the muzzle-loading *Kentucky or Tennessee* rifle back in Yosef's hands in the Bork/Laney-to-Peacock/Cobb transition. So think tradition every time Mountaineer Football puts points on the scoreboard! That blast you hear isn't a mere, left-over, beach trip cherry bomb.
I'm also one of the first to "hate on" the numbskulls who, from time to time, substitute shades of sickly yellow for real, 122 years-old Appalachian Gold.
*Kentucky or Tennessee* rifle you ask??? Which one we use depends on what we can get donated and App ROTC can get parts for and keep in top-of-rack, safe-to-fire condition.

Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

Doubtfully could hardly hear a long rifle shot with the super loud PA system we have. Still symbolically a good idea.asu66 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 1:53 pmCall me a traditions guy. I like it, but I am one of the few that also liked the Gorton one. It was more of a Jeremiah Johnson look than Deliverance. I like the current one least of all (I know I'm in the minority).

Yeah, I also liked the Gordon's one. I get App ppl like old school Yosef, but it does look tired and is an easy target for the outside world to pick on. It's the opposite of modern
