It is Bugler's Dream, Olympic Fanfare did not come out until 1984. Bugler's Dream came out in 1964, App has been playing Bugler's Dream since '72. The story goes the kicker for Appalachian said that if you play the Olympic Theme before kickoff, I will kick it through the uprights every time. Would like conformation on actual date. All I really know, is that the more times Bugler's Dream is played at a ballgame the better the Mountaineers are doing.

Bugler’s Dream for every kickoff and Tennessee Waltz after the game are App State traditions that should never change.

The tradition is Buglers Dream for every one of our kickoffs. When we receive, it should be anything else, but not BD.

most of the time it should be Hells Bells, but that's certainly up for discussion.

The High Country has had and still has a close relationship with Tennessee. Ashe, Alleghany, and Watauga were referred to as the "lost provinces" since they were cut off from the rest of the state until the early 20th century. That could explain the Tennessee Waltz but I have no answer for the the UT-K footage during the ad other than that the ad was not done by App State and perhaps that electric company is associated with the TVA.

Neither give me as much heartburn as our infatuation with Alabama's "Mountain Music." I always cringe when we play it at home against UL and sing along about floating down the river to our CAJUN hideaway. Including the word "mountain" and being a favorite of Jerry Moore don't make it a properly fitting song to play in KBS.

Yes, “Play Me Some Mountain Music” is a bit odd, especially during a Louisiana game. Maybe getting a payoff from the Louisiana Tourist Bureau?

We could send footage of our crowd to the Tennessee co ops. Maybe they will put some in their ads.

Tenn Waltz came about decades ago for App games. Some like it some don't. Regardless it is a tradition and harmless. Just a good tune that brings about fond memories for some of us oldie goldies.
