Then I would hope an apology is on it way from SAU.

My apologies…all I wanted to know if anyone had heard anything, not reopen speculation.

Re: No News on You Know What?
Probably as resolved as it's going to be. I feel it was handled very badly by Wommack. He never should have made public statements on unvetted allegations. I respect supporting his players, but Clark handled it appropriately.
There won't be any apologies. Time for this to go away. Nothing to see here.

Re: No News on You Know What?
Yeah I’m really sure Spurlin is throwing racial slurs around on the field. This is just like that Myles Garrett mason rudolph story. Dude loses his mind and makes an ass of himself and goes immediately to that to somehow exonerate his behavior. This thread is bullshit

Wommack should publicly retract his statement on the racial slurs. There are articles connecting Surplin to racist behavior that can be pulled up by searching his name.

It would be wise before lawyers get involved. And if I were Spurlin, I’d involve lawyers.AppState2009 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 10:54 amWommack should publicly retract his statement on the racial slurs. Re: No News on You Know What?
TBF, Wommack said "their officials" confirmed the spit. I asked the USA beat writer if this meant an App official or the refs and he wasn't 100%, but said he believes Wommack meant an App person confirmed the spit.AppStateNews wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 9:50 pmYup! Spurlin just wasn't on the call (neither was Gray from So Al). I just think it's funny how Wommack goes to the media with what he said, but then won't admit it when having a meeting with the conference and officials at the game. Also think it's funny he said an official told him Spurlin spit, but not one official said they saw anything during this meeting.
Clark and Wommack are close. Would not be surprised if that relationship has soured since Clark will always stand up for his players.
Also, Wommack didn't "go to the media." He talked about it during his Monday coach's show. I don't know if he was asked about it or offered it up voluntarily.
It seems this is a dead issue for now. My hope is that Gray misheard something Spurlin said and thought it was racial, but wasn't, and lost his cool.

FWIW, here's Wommack's comments that led to the article. They start around 13:30 of the Nov. 15 coach's show.

According to this article, Wommack said it was a game official that saw it happen. Same game official then denied seeing it happen...T-Dog wrote: ↑Fri Nov 19, 2021 1:04 pmTBF, Wommack said "their officials" confirmed the spit. Re: No News on You Know What?
The hypothetical punishments you are handing down are fair? An apology versus ending of a career for an accusation?ASUPATCH wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 10:29 pmSaid player was wearing a captains C on his chest when this occurred. Re: No News on You Know What?
I watch the film of the SoAl player losing it in our bowl game last year w No Tex.
I might guess any discussion between him and 97 might have included references to that game. The fact That Womack hasn’t pushed it further speaks volumes. I’m looking forward to tomorrow!!!!

Yes. 97 plays today and gives his all for App State like he has for the past 6 years. He sat out the 2nd half of last weeks game. Does not carry over to this week.

Re: No News on You Know What?
I personally jumped on this thing early on and still believe any player for any team including ours spitting on another person should be punished to the fullest extent. It is apparent that this has not been confirmed that is what Spurlin did. I'm not the coach of App St and do believe its time we move on and shutdown this conversation.

Re: No News on You Know What?
The only reason I ever said anything was due to someone saying “that’s football”. Spitting on someone whether in a sport or not is inexcusable. I’ve watched the replays and don’t think he did and the racial slur allegations, to me, are just dumb. Even though he is a teammate, I just don’t see our guys putting up with that if they heard it. The SoAl guy obviously Has some issues.Yosefus wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 2:25 pmI personally jumped on this thing early on and still believe any player for any team including ours spitting on another person should be punished to the fullest extent.
