Talk about the Gumroots

Unread post by Black Saturday » Sun Nov 21, 2021 3:26 pm

APP -24

The favorite certainly has a history of not winning these games, maybe it’s closer for resting some key players, maybe not?Lots of reasons for it to be another run away. Final home game for lots and lots of talent, I’m sure they want to go out with a big win over a hated rival.

Makes you wonder if their fans will show up at KBS & throw burritos at our players like they did to BYU yesterday.

Maybe they will get stuck in the concession lines.

I’m lost, why did they throw burritos at BYU?

With our concession lines, they'll need to bring their own.

I assume this will be close at least until half like that BYU game.

Question will be who will we try to rest?

I'll get roasted but here goes anyway: y'all need to understand one key idea and that is that this is The Stink. Georgia Southern. I don't care what their record is, who's coaching them, what is in it or for us or them. It's the next game, the most important one, and we can not for any reason no way Jose no way possible should we take them lightly. I hate to see the "who will we rest" ideas popping up. I hope we play them as if they were ULL and take their spirit, their drive, their dreams.
We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

After the last two defensive efforts, I see a shut out as a possibility.

One thing's for sure: GASO has something to prove on Saturday after a season they'd like to forget.

After joining the SBC, GASO hasn't had the success like they expected. Meanwhile, App has excelled, ULL continues to dominate and Coastal, GA State and even USA are on the rise. GASO opposed the conference expansion, only to be overruled and watch more high-profile programs join the Sun Belt. You can believe they're bitter and it's getting worse.

So I doubt Coach Clark, his staff and the players are taking GASO lightly.

I think we should rest our starters the whole game.

I know this is a rivalry game and it usually is pretty physical. They will show up and want to make us look bad. However, they are allowing 452 yards a game (almost 300 passing) and giving up 32 points per game....

Against the identical opponents we are 5-1 and they are 1-5.

Let's send our super seniors out in style. Sets up for a real bombs over Baghdad.... Focus and do what we are supposed to do!

I've seen the term "Gumroots" on this board and was not sure exactly what it meant or how it originated so I Googled it and here's what I found:

What is a Gumroot?
An individual of such stupidity that by simply existing they disprove the concept of natural selection or evolution.

-the term is not racist in origin and is mostly applied to trailer trash, or hicks.[/i]

NOW I GET IT!!

In 1939 we won 59-0, our largest point differential in the all time series. My hope is that we surpass that final score by a mile, and let our team managers and equipment guys score a few td's!

Thought it fitting for so many of their fans actions, first brought the term to the board many years ago.

I'm steeped in hate of their fans and program since a student in our win over them 19-0.

They've taken no mercy on us based on the score in some of our meetings, I say return the favor.

I want a shut out, and I think our defense is fully capable of one. On offense, absolutely Bombs Over Baghdad! I want to hang 50 on 'em.
