One of the announcers today said the WKU team is made up of 25% transfers. Is this becoming the new norm? "Free Agency" college athletes. :(

Yes

I was watching the Jackson State game today and I bet their team is at least half transfers.

Most high school students don't dream of growing up and playing at WKU. Recruiting players who didn't work out somewhere else is their best plan for success.

I can remember a time when none of the players on our basketball team came to us from an actual high school.

Yeah, I remember us having some quality players coming from Jr College. Junior Colleges have pretty much disappeared.

After the completely ridiculous amount of hype around Jackson State, I confess it was pretty funny watching the Bulldogs mow down the hype-squad and their big time coach.

They kept talking about South Carolina's history of creative play calling and all I could think of was the time they "creatively" called timeouts in a game they had clearly lost and Armanti called an audible and threw a touchdown.

He’s all about the bling. Always has been. He means nothing to me personally.

Yet another reason I've stopped watching ESPN. They fall in love with certain people/topics and that's all you see for months on end. It's been like that for over 25 years.

Their QB and WR's came together to WKU from an FCS school, along with their OC. Now they are gone. This shows the problem. WKU was a "one hit wonder". App is built to last, and will last as long as we remain building and developing from within.

And as long as we sacrifice many other things for the sake of our Football program or rationalize things that fit both. Not complaining exactly because I mightily enjoy football at App...and not NFL, etc. It has brought me back on campus at least a hundred times in the interim between 1971 and 2021. And I have never lived closer than a hundred miles since I graduated, not withstanding my budget.. Not bragging, just relating how much I absolutely love ASU football...winning or losing

Awesome. I’m glad that is the one lasting memory that someone else has of the SC State game. It went to Brian Quick.

There are a few situations where it works out for transfers, but it does not work out all the time for transfers. You only hear about the situations where it does go very well of very badly. Texas State comes to mind. However, Appalachian is different, if it were not then we would not continue to have the sustained success we have enjoyed. The loses this season may lead to something unimagined. Just think how Michigan would have gone had we not lost to NC State in '06. How would it have gone had App not lost to Wyo in '04. We can be sad now or we can look to a bright future for Appalachian State.
I did notice that today was the first time that App has lost this season that the Sun did not come up the next day. However, it is raining and you need the rain for thigs to grow. It was a full Moon yesterday too. Appalachian is all about the Appalachian Family. It takes a special person to e a Mountaineer. Look at Montana State, this is the first time in 37 years that they are going to the Championship game. 37 years ago App had not even won a Southern Conference Championship in football. This is pre playoff Georgia Southern too.

Neon Deion was beaten handily in that bowl game by a team that had 80 of 86 players from its home state. How’d that transfer route work for you against that team, Deion?

One of Jackson State's transfers was arrested by the Feds yesterday on several counts of wire fraud and identity theft.

This will absolutely, positively be the very last run-in between Jackson St players and law enforcement.

(said not one person ever, even Coach Prime)

For something he did while at Southern Cal.
