From the Roanoke Times: Va Tech’s Burnop said Adam Witten from the Learfield-run Appalachian State radio network will handle the play-by-play for the Tech men’s basketball broadcast Tuesday, as well as for some other Tech men’s basketball games. Burnop said there will be a meeting Tuesday about the rest of the season. Witten is the voice of Appalachian State football but does not handle Appalachian State men’s basketball, so he could be free this winter.

The Tech PBP guy resigned to pursue outside interests. Given that Adam worked at Tech prior to coming back to App, he seems a natural short term fill-in.

Hope its "short term"

I was out running errands tonight and heard the VT-UVA game on the radio. We get their games locally and I enjoy listening to their announcing team when there is nothing better to listen to. I was surprised to hear Adam. I hadn't been to this board in a while so I had to come over to get the scoop if it was a permanent or temp arrangement. I assume it was a fill-in/tryout to see how he worked with Burnop. It sounded like he had a good rapport with the VT people already.

Adam is quite good so I'd love to have him stick around especially as an alum, but would not begrudge him going to VT if the pay is better.

If you recall, Adam was with the Tech broadcast crew before he came back to App. Since they needed someone on short notice, he was a logical short term fill-in.
